  • Patent number: 7098999
Abstract: A readout system for receiving return signals originating from one or more energy pulses fired toward a scene. The system includes a first mechanism for detecting energy received from the scene and providing a first signal in response thereto. A second mechanism times a rising edge and a falling edge of a pulse contained in the first signal and provides a second signal in response thereto. In a specific embodiment, a third mechanism determines characteristics of the pulse based on the second signal, which include characteristics, such as pulse width, pulse intensity, and/or pulse centroid, sufficient to generate an image of the scene.

  • Patent number: 5703691
Abstract: A remote laser sensor incorporating a single integrated detector. The laser sensor comprises a laser for transmitting laser energy that is applied to a target, and a beamsplitter for sampling of the transmitted laser energy. A telescope is provided for collecting laser energy reflected from the target. The integrated detector comprises an integrating sphere for receiving the sampled transmitted laser energy and for receiving the laser energy reflected from the target, and a detector coupled to the integrating sphere for selectively detecting the sampled transmitted laser energy and the laser energy reflected from the target. A scatter plate may be disposed inside the integrating sphere for preventing photons from entering the detector that result directly from a first scattering event within the sphere. In operation, the laser provides a transmit beam that is directed at the target and reflected energy from the target is collected by the telescope and focused onto the detector.

  • Patent number: 5365532
Abstract: An amplitude stabilization circuit for a CO.sub.2 laser employing a filter for generating a Q-switched baseband video pulse representing intracavity laser flux, a comparator to detect when the video pulse and flux reach a selected level, and logic timing circuitry for timing generation of a Q-switch discharge pulse to occur at the peak of the intracavity flux. A second comparator is advantageously used to generate a sample signal for frequency locking from the baseband video pulse.
