  • Patent number: 9981327
Abstract: A jigsaw generally includes a housing containing a motor activated by a trigger assembly. The housing defines a window. A shoe member pivotally connects to the housing. An indicator wheel is disposed in the housing so that a portion of the indicator wheel is visible through the window, wherein pivoting of the shoe member relative to the housing causes the indicator wheel to rotate.

  • Patent number: 9827623
Abstract: A jigsaw generally includes a housing containing a motor activated by a trigger assembly. A single control member is connected to the housing and configured to be accessible by a user. A reciprocating shaft moves at a reciprocation speed and at a magnitude of orbital motion when the trigger assembly is in a retracted condition. The single control member is operable to be positioned among a plurality of positions. Each of the positions corresponds to a predetermined combination of values of the reciprocation speed and the magnitude of the orbital motion.

  • Patent number: 8166860
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a system for forming miter joints including a miter saw and an angle gauge. The miter saw includes a platform with a kerf slot and a pair of arcuate slots. Each arcuate slot includes an associated rail located on the underside of the platform. A fence is coupled to each of the rails such that the fence may be pivoted with respect to the platform. The angle measurement tool is a one-handed tool including spring loaded paddles that measure the angle between intersecting surfaces. The angle measurement tool connects to the miter saw to permit the transfer of the measured angle to the fences.

  • Publication number: 20120000053
Abstract: A method of positioning a shoe member and a keel assembly relative to a housing of a jigsaw is provided. The method may include securing the keel assembly to the housing so that the keel assembly extends from the housing beyond the shoe member. The housing and the keel assembly may be pivoted relative to the shoe member in a manner such that a position of the housing relative to the keel assembly remains unchanged. A portion of the keel assembly may be uncoupled from the housing.

  • Patent number: 8033026
Abstract: A jigsaw includes a housing containing a motor activated by a trigger assembly. A shoe member is pivotally connected to the housing of the jigsaw and establishes an angle therebetween. The jigsaw includes a keel assembly includes a blade member that generally extends from the housing beyond the shoe member. The keel assembly remains generally in line with the housing as the angle between the shoe member and the housing varies. The jigsaw also includes a latch assembly capable of retaining and releasing the keel assembly from the housing.

  • Patent number: 7971758
Abstract: A motorized caulk gun has a housing which receives a plunger. The plunger is disposed adjacent to caulk cartridge which is received in the housing. The plunger is movable in a first direction to discharge caulk from the cartridge. A first and second plate moves the plunger rod in a direction to squeeze caulk from the cartridge. A first and second cam act on the plates via a cam follower such that the plates alternately engage the plunger rod to drive it in a forward direction to squeeze caulk from the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 7563061
Abstract: A chuck has a generally cylindrical body member having a nose section and a tail section. The tail section is configured to mate with the drive shaft so that the body rotates with the drive shaft. The nose section has an axial bore formed therein and a plurality of jaws is slidably positioned to engage a bit within the axial bore. Each of the jaws has a bit engaging jaw face formed thereon. One or more centering members are disposed adjacent to the jaws. The members are deformable from a first position where the members define a through passage configured to accept a bit, which has a drive shaft diameter less than a predefined diameter. The members are further configured to be deformable to a second position upon the insertion of a bit, which has a diameter greater than the predefined diameter, into the axial bore.

  • Publication number: 20090077819
Abstract: A jigsaw generally includes a housing containing a motor activated by a trigger assembly. A shoe member is pivotally connected to the housing. A locking mechanism has an unlocked condition that permits the shoe member to pivot relative to the housing and a locked condition that prevents the shoe member from pivoting relative to the housing. A stop member extends from the housing and the shoe member is configured to be moved axially relative to the housing so that a portion of the shoe member engages the stop member to prevent the shoe member from pivoting relative to the housing. The stop members provide an additional positive lock for the shoe member at a certain cutting angle.

  • Publication number: 20090077817
Abstract: A jigsaw generally includes a housing that contains a motor activated by a trigger assembly. A reciprocating shaft is connected to the motor that extends from the housing toward a cutting area. A laser module is contained with a housing operable to produce a laser light pattern forward of the cutting area. An upper connection portion releaseably connects the housing of the laser module to the housing of the jigsaw. A lower connection portion pivotally couples the housing of the laser module to the housing of the jigsaw to permit the housing of the laser module to tilt away from the housing of the jigsaw to provide access to a rear area of the laser module.

  • Publication number: 20080028628
Abstract: A power operated tape measure enables measuring tape extension through a drive mechanism, as well as measuring tape retraction. A tape cartridge assembly including an annular reel, a measuring tape wound onto the reel, as well as a spring coupled with the reel, and is positioned within a housing shell of the tape measure. A drive mechanism accomplishes tape extension out of the housing shell, and optionally, tape retraction into the housing shell by engaging with a surface of the measuring tape. A primary actuator initiates input on one or more switches that selectively control operation of the drive mechanism, and includes a lever arm for a user to make selections regarding tape extension and retraction. A retraction actuator is moveable by a user to cause the drive mechanism to become disengaged from the surface of the tape, whereby spring powered retraction of the tape is permitted.

  • Publication number: 20070227028
Abstract: A power operated tape measure enables measuring tape extension through a drive mechanism as well as measuring tape retraction through at least one of a drive mechanism and spring biasing on a tape reel. A tape cartridge assembly including an annular reel and a measuring tape wound onto the reel is positioned within a housing shell of the tape measure. A drive mechanism accomplishes tape extension out of the housing shell, and optionally, tape retraction into the housing shell by engaging with a surface of the measuring tape. An actuator initiates input on one or more switches that selectively control operation of the drive mechanism, and includes a lever arm for a user to make selections regarding tape extension and retraction. The actuator may be arranged such that lever arm motion in a forward direction enables tape extension and lever arm motion in a rearward direction enables tape retraction.

  • Publication number: 20070171630
Abstract: This invention is directed to an automatic tape measure having a housing, a tape assembly, and a light assembly. The tape assembly is supported in the housing and contains a reel having a tape adapted to extend and retract from the front wall of the housing. The light assembly is received in the housing and contains a power source, a light source, a switch, and a lens. The lens is coupled with an opening in the front wall of the housing and is adapted to move between a first position where the light source passes through the lens and a second position where the light source projects downwardly onto the extended tape.

  • Patent number: 7243923
Abstract: A drill includes a chuck which has a body member including a bore to receive a tool. Jaw members frictionally engage the tool to retain the tool in the chuck. A member is associated with the jaw members and the body to move the jaw members between clamping and non-clamping position. A centering mechanism extends radially into the body member to center tool bits within the chuck while prohibiting the tool bit from contacting the bore wall.
