  • Publication number: 20060169766
Abstract: A system and method for managing and processing stored-value debit, check card, signature debit, PIN based card or automatic teller machine (ATM) cards and bill payment from a variety of access points. Enrollment occurs between a card issuer and a card holder resulting in issuance of the card. When using the card, the cardholder will input the card into an input device. Cardholder information is routed to an initial network and then to the ATM/debit network. The information is then sent to the issuer. The issuer verifies the transaction to the input device and prompts the cardholder with options. For bill payment, the cardholder is provided a list of billers. The cardholder selects the appropriate biller and inputs all necessary information. A transaction is created to debit the cardholder's electronic account and credit the biller's account. This information is then routed to biller and confirmation is provided by the input device.

  • Patent number: 4625877
Abstract: A closure is provided comprised of a thin flexible material for use on a needle disposal container so that a contaminated blood collection needle may be removed from its holder and deposited in the container without the user touching the needle or the needle hub. The device includes an elongated tapered opening to accommodate varying diameters of needle hubs. A feature of the invention includes a plurality of spaced apart elongated slots extending from each side of the opening which enhances the flexibility of the edges of the opening, which, in turn increases the wedging or wrench-grip action for unscrewing a needle from a collection assembly and at the same time allows ready transfer to a disposal container. The cap of the invention is configured to be utilized with a large variety of collection containers of varying sizes and shapes.

  • Patent number: 4418703
Abstract: A multiple sample needle assembly includes a housing with a chamber therein. A first cannula for insertion into a liquid source is in fluid communication with the chamber. A second cannula is movably positioned in the housing and is out of liquid communication with the chamber when in a first position. A liquid flow mechanism inside the chamber is operatively responsive to inward movement of the second cannula to a second position for allowing liquid to flow from the chamber into the second cannula. After the liquid has been collected, the flow control mechanism automatically returns the second cannula to the first position.

Abstract: A multiple sample needle assembly useful in collecting fluid samples from a source includes a housing with a chamber therein. A first cannula, in fluid communication with the chamber, is provided for insertion into a fluid source. A second cannula is movably positioned in the housing and communicates with the chamber. A flow mechanism inside the chamber prevents fluid from flowing from the chamber into the second cannula. This flow mechanism is operatively responsive to inward movement of the second cannula to allow fluid to flow from the chamber into the second cannula for collection therefrom.
