    Abstract: Apparatus for supporting a rotating member such as a shaft associated with a gas turbine engine, is provided wherein the relative movement between a bearing assembly and a bearing support is prevented during a first mode of operation wherein the rotating member is rotating in a normal balance condition and relative movement is permitted during a second mode of operation wherein the rotating member is rotating in an abnormal balance condition.
