  • Patent number: 8100277
Abstract: A peelable seal having one or more layers for sealing containers by heat sealing may include a stiffening structure, a foil portion, and a sealant structure. The stiffening structure of the seal includes an outer periphery or overhanging portion which extends beyond the rim of a neck of a container thereby allowing the peelable seal to be loosened from the container by flicking the overhanging portion of the peelable seal with a portion of the hand and without the need to pinch the seal.

Inventors: Randall G. Bush, William J. Shankland, Louis J. Marsella
  • Patent number: 7798359
Abstract: Heat-sealed, peelable lidding membrane for retort packaging. The membrane includes a plastic layer laminated to a foil layer with a first adhesive layer. A co-extruded layer is laminated to the foil layer with a second adhesive layer. The co-extruded layer is formed with a plastic body co-extruded with a heat-sealable sealing resin layer.

  • Patent number: 7780024
Abstract: A self peelable seal having one or more layers for sealing containers by heat induction, conduction, or other means and having a stiffening structure. A portion of the seal is axially retained within a closure thereby allowing the peelable seal to be loosened from the container neck by placing a lifting force on the seal with the closure upon removal of the closure from the container.

  • Patent number: 4879147
Abstract: A multilayer plastic sheet adapted for the manufacture of containers for food products to be cooked or reheated in microwave ovens is disclosed wherein the sheet has at least one layer of a propylene polymer composition bonded to the surface of a styrene polymer layer, the propylene polymer layer having incorporated therein about 20 to about 40 percent by weight of an inorganic filler such as talc, the filled propylene polymer and the styrene polymer layer having a melt flow substantially equal to the other and the thickness of the layers being at a ratio of from about 60:40 to about 40:60.

  • Patent number: 4704180
Abstract: This relates to the forming of packages by thermoforming a web which is of a laminated construction. By forming the web as two separate webs, particularly when one of the webs may include sterile components, the number of splices which must be made under sterile conditions is greatly reduced as compared to the number of splices which may be conventionally formed.
