    Abstract: An ultrasound sub-surface probe microscopy device (1) is provided comprising a stage (10), a signal generator (20), a scanning head (30), a signal processor (50) and a scanning mechanism (16). In use, the stage (10) carries a sample (11) and the scanning mechanism (16) provides for a relative displacement between the sample (11) and the scanning head (30), along the surface of the sample. The scanning head (30) comprises an actuator (31) configured to generate in response to a drive signal (Sdr) from the signal generator (20) an ultrasound acoustic input signal (Iac). The generated ultrasound acoustic input signal (Iac) has at least one acoustic input signal component (Iac1) with a first angular frequency (?1). The scanning head (30) further comprises a tip (32) to transmit the acoustic input signal (Iac) through a tip-sample interface (12) as an acoustic wave (Wac) into the sample.

    Abstract: Provided is a battery assembly that includes a housing, one or more battery cells electrically coupled to a busbar, the one or more battery cells and busbar being received in the housing. A non-woven core layer is disposed between the busbar and housing, the non-woven core layer comprising a plurality of fibers, the plurality of fibers includes a plurality of oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers and a coating disposed thereon that binds the plurality of oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers to each other. Advantageously, the provided assemblies can exhibit extremely high electrical resistance, thermal resistance, and very high dielectric breakdown voltage.

    Abstract: An embedding component is described which embeds information in a scanned document. The embedding component includes a document acquisition component, which acquires a scanned document from an associated scanning device. An information acquisition component acquires variable information associated with the scanned document. An encoding component generates a machine-readable representation of the variable information. A pattern insertion component uses the machine-readable representation to insert at least one machine readable pattern in the scanned document, to generate a modified document. An output component outputs the modified document to an associated output device, such that when the modified document is rendered on print media, the machine-readable pattern is not noticeable to the unaided eye of a person. A processor implements the document acquisition component, information acquisition component, encoding component, pattern insertion component, and output component.
