  • Publication number: 20080078015
Abstract: A mobile bedside commode includes a wheeled frame structure, and a platform assembly attached to an uppermost portion of the frame structure. The platform assembly includes a toilet cutout and retaining arrangement for retaining a sanitary waste container in communication with the cutout. The platform assembly further includes a toilet seat which is provided with an opening that overlies the cutout. The toilet seat is pivotally mounted to the platform assembly and defines a support surface covering essentially the majority of the platform assembly. The platform assembly has a back end adapted to be positioned towards a user seated on a bed and a front end space from the seated user. A gripping arrangement is formed by the front end of the platform assembly itself. The frame structure is configured to be straddled by legs of the seated user when the back end of the platform assembly is positioned adjacent the bedside.

  • Patent number: 6510563
Abstract: An adapter for attachment to an existing single flush valve system to convert the single valve system to a dual flush valve system comprises a pair of tubular sections vertically offset from one another and connected by a hollow, enclosed channel. The upper section is adapted to engage a discharge pipe of an existing single flush valve system in order to select a discharge level for a lower volume flush and direct water flowing through the discharge pipe through the adapter. The bottom section of the adapter includes a pivotable flapper valve that can be operated independently of the flapper valve disposed on the single flush system in order to provide a greater volume of water for flushing of the toilet. A mounting arrangement is also provided for attachment to the toilet tank which enables the existing and additional flapper valves to be selectively activated using a pair of handles connected to the arrangement.

  • Patent number: 5127127
Abstract: A hand-held paper wipe made of a unitary sheet of absorbent paper is formed of two overlying layers integrally joined by a common fold line. One layer forms a primary wiping layer having a generally flat rectangular surface large enough to cover at least the fingers of the hand. The other overlying layer has a somewhat greater lateral width than the primary wiping layer such that it may be gathered laterally and bound to the underlying main wiping layer by a series of spaced seams extending generally perpendicular to the fold line to form finger-receiving pockets. In use, the wipe is held in place by squeezing the fingers together and is readily disposed of after use by opening the fingers and allowing the wipe to fall off by gravity.

  • Patent number: 4706311
Abstract: A bathtub unit (1) is provided which is set into wall recesses which may form a shower stall if desired. The tub unit includes a raised seat (12) at one end and a downwardly recessed tub (13) at the other end. The front wall of the seat is recessed rearwardly (16) to provide heel room for the user, and the seat top is provided with a drain run (18) which discharges into the tub. A plurality of foot holds (28) are spaced along the longitudinal side walls of the tub, and in the present embodiment comprise vertically extending tapered recesses (29, 30) provided with foot stops (31). Hand rails (32) are disposed along the longitudinal tub edges above the foot holds, with the rails having projections (34) spaced therealong. The user can work himself down into or up from the tub in a step-by-step manner by utilizing one or the combination of foot holds and hand rails.
