  • Patent number: 4110079
Abstract: An analytical element for use in the clinical assay of an analyte contained in a biological liquid sample which is applied from an external source to a substantially planar sample receiving suface of the element. The analytical element comprises a porous layer bearing the aforementioned sample receiving surface; at least one dry reagent material for use in the assay; and one or more associated rupturable pod-like member(s) containing a liquid reagent for the assay, such liquid reagent, upon rupture of the pod-like member(s), being released into the element.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 9, 1977
Date of Patent: August 29, 1978
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: James R. Schaeffer, Louis M. Minsk, Richard E. Stevens
  • Patent number: 4064168
Abstract: Novel N-(vinylphenyl)sulfonamides and polymers thereof including copolymers of N-(vinylphenyl)sulfonamides and styrene are prepared by reacting 4-vinylaniline with an amine and a sulfonyl chloride in the presence of an acid acceptor to produce the monomer to be polymerized. The homo- and copolymers of these N-(vinylphenyl)sulfonamides are useful as vesiculating matrices in vesicular elements.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 20, 1976
Date of Patent: December 20, 1977
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Carl Kotlarchik, Jr., Louis M. Minsk, George L. Fletcher, Jr.
