Patent number: 10230184Abstract: An electrical contact for insertion into a hole of a substrate. The electrical contact includes a compliant portion having an opening extending between contact arms. At least one contact arm of the contact arms has a resilient engagement section which extends into the opening of the compliant portion and resilient contacting sections which extend from the engagement section in a direction away from the opening. Upon insertion of the compliant portion into the hole of the substrate, the resilient engagement section of the at least one contact arm engages an opposed contact arm of the contact arms, causing each of the resilient contacting sections to move independently of the resilient engagement section and other resilient contacting sections. Each of the resilient engagement section and the resilient contacting sections are deformed and generate independent retention forces which are combined to generate the total retention force of the compliant portion.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2017Date of Patent: March 12, 2019Assignee: TE CONNECTIVITY CORPORATIONInventors: John Mark Myer, Hurley Chester Moll, Ronald Louis Marion, Daniel Williams Fry, Jr.

Patent number: 10096917Abstract: An electrical contact includes a compliant portion having an opening extending between contact arms. A first contact arm of the contact arms has multiple resilient engagement sections extending into the opening of the compliant portion and resilient contacting sections extending from the engagement sections in a direction away from the opening. Upon insertion of the compliant portion into the hole of the substrate, the resilient engagement sections of the first contact arm engage an opposed second contact arm of the contact arms, causing each of the resilient contacting sections to move independently of the resilient engagement sections and independently of other resilient contacting sections. Each of the resilient engagement sections and the resilient contacting sections are deformed and generate independent retention forces which are combined to generate the total retention force of the compliant portion.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2017Date of Patent: October 9, 2018Assignee: TE CONNECTIVITY CORPORATIONInventors: John Mark Myer, Hurley Chester Moll, Ronald Louis Marion, Daniel Williams Fry, Jr.

Patent number: 9033729Abstract: A connector assembly for mounting to a panel includes a cap connector having a cap housing, a cap terminal block held in the cap housing and holding a plurality of cap terminals and a mounting clip coupled to the cap housing to secure the cap housing to the panel. The cap housing has an inner shroud, an inner flange surrounding the inner shroud and an outer flange extending outward from the inner flange. The inner flange has panel retention features extending therefrom. The inner shroud is loaded through an opening in the panel until the panel retention features engage the panel and temporarily secure the cap housing to the panel between the panel retention features and the outer flange. The mounting clip is coupled to the cap housing to secure the cap housing to the panel between the mounting clip and the outer flange.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2013Date of Patent: May 19, 2015Assignee: TYCO ELECTRONICS CORPORATIONInventors: David Allen Klein, Rohan Narang, Kevin John Peterson, Robert Daniel Irlbeck, Ronald Louis Marion

Patent number: 8740629Abstract: A header assembly includes a conductive outer housing holding a center contact and a dielectric body. The outer housing has a rear shell and an outer contact extending forward from the rear shell. The outer contact has a catch extending therefrom positioned forward of the rear shell. The header assembly includes a nose cone coupled to the outer contact. The nose cone is manufactured from a plastic material. The nose cone surrounds the outer contact. The nose cone has keying ribs along an exterior thereof. The nose cone has a latch engaging the catch to secure the nose cone to the outer housing.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2012Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignee: Tyco Electronics CorporationInventors: John Wesley Hall, Raymond John DeMarchis, Jr., Douglas John Hardy, Ronald Louis Marion

Patent number: 5690499Abstract: An electrical socket has a slot for receiving an edge of a circuit card and an extractor which is movable for dislodging the circuit card from the slot. The socket has a pair of flexible towers, and the extractor has a pair of lateral projections which are received in notches in the towers for locking the extractor in a closed position. The projections have beveled surfaces, and the towers have complementary ramps which are engaged by the beveled surfaces so that the towers are resiliently deflected without damage to the projections.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1996Date of Patent: November 25, 1997Assignee: The Whitaker CorporationInventors: David Gregory Howell, Ronald Louis Marion

Patent number: 5088368Abstract: A cutting device for materials such as gauze is provided by a circular knife having a cutting edge suitable for making an incision in several sizes of swabs. The knife is rotatable in correspondence with a succession of swabs moving along a path. The swabs have a folded edge in a direction of movement. A counter roller is elastically biased against the knife and disposed for passage of the moving swabs therebetween. A Y-shaped incision extending from the folded edge is made in the moving swabs by the knife.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1989Date of Patent: February 18, 1992Inventor: Louis Marion

Patent number: 5057069Abstract: A method and apparatus for folding a length of material includes forming first and second transverse folds at opposite ends of the material whereby the material defines first and second end parts and a central part. Longitudinal corrugations are formed in the first and second end parts in order to reduce a transverse dimension of the first and second end parts. A third transverse fold is formed in the central part in order to bring the first and second end parts into superposition. In the resulting folded material, edges of the first and second end parts are recessed inward from edges of the central part.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1989Date of Patent: October 15, 1991Inventor: Louis Marion

Patent number: 5044499Abstract: This process is outstanding in that paper in the form of a roll (B) double the width of the bag (S) to be obtained is used, the unrolled strip is separated into two equal widths (B1) (B2), the two half-widths of paper are independently fed to the point where the folded swabs are brought, the stacked swabs are fed between the two half-widths of paper and brought into superimposition, then the two superimposed half-widths of paper are cold sealed and the bags obtained are transversally cut, continuously and automatically.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1989Date of Patent: September 3, 1991Inventor: Louis Marion

Patent number: 4569672Abstract: A machine for continuously and automatically cutting, folding and packing sheet material into rolled up webs. The machine is provided with two variable speed drive devices which continuously pulls the sheet material into the machine where it can be cut and folded. The second variable speed drive device comprises a variable speed transmission that operates the folding devices which comprises pivotable plates, folding rollers and the cylinder. The pivotable plates directs the material between the roller and the cylinder by links and levers so that multiple folds may be made in the material. The links and levers are operationally connected to the variable transmission.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1982Date of Patent: February 11, 1986Assignee: MabotexInventors: Louis Marion, Andre Borel
