  • Patent number: 4246629
Abstract: A fluorescent light fixture is provided which can be easily assembled from kit form and in essence provides a reversible mounting system such that the main housing can be alternatively mounted flush against a flat wall or ceiling surface or reversed so that a pair of orthogonally related housing walls fit flush into a corner defined between two walls or a wall and a ceiling. The flat wall mode of deployment can also be adapted to be spaced from a ceiling by the addition of a pair of conventional chain mounts used for fluorescent fixtures.

  • Patent number: 4166934
Abstract: A modular electrical switch/outlet assembly is provided which contains an easy-to-wire wiring box which articulates contact pairs in the form of sockets for bayonet type prongs so that the wiring box will accept alternatively either an electrical outlet module or a switch module, both of which are provided with a pair of connector prongs to mate with the wiring box. All of the parts and sub-assemblies are so constructed that they can be dismantled entirely so that only the elemental parts need be replaced in case of breakage rather than requiring replacement of the entire unit or major sub-assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4103125
Abstract: A multi-mode electrical switch-outlet assembly as characterized by separate switch and outlet receptacle modules which are selectively plugged into a wiring box in the selected one of numerous possible combinations, there being a special face plate designed to snap-lock onto these modules, sandwiching them between the face plate and the wiring box, the latter of which is adjustably retained in a special mounting bracket which ordinarily would be connected to a building stud behind the wallboard.

  • Patent number: 4098423
Abstract: The invention is a multi-purpose electrical outlet box adapted for use with wall switches, plug outlet receptacles, and light fixtures, and includes a mounting bracket for attaching the assembly to a frame member of the building and a wiring box slidable within the mounting bracket, this wiring box being forwardly spring-biased in the mounting bracket but retained against the spring action, there being structure on a facia plate which releases the retaining detent to permit the wiring box to snap forward into final position, and the complete insertion of the facia plate causes the wiring box to be locked in its terminal position.

  • Patent number: 4080518
Abstract: The invention comprises a combination electrical outlet and switch assembly characterized by a rocker-type actuator pivoted to the front of a wiring box, and a pair of sliding cam bars are pivoted to one end of the rocker and have non-linear or "programmed" surfaces which slide in biased relation across a pair of switch contacts to open and close same, these cam bars being arrangeable in several different ways, and being usable on two separate rockers to achieve several different switching modes in the same basic assembly. The outlet portion of the box includes three conductive elements adapted to receive the prongs of an electrical plug and having connector means comprising sleeves mounted within a casing of the wiring box by simply inserting stripped wires into the sleeve. The completed wiring box is adjustable forwardly and rearwardly in a special bracket to permit aligning the front plane of the assembly flush with the exposed surface of newly installed wall board.

  • Patent number: 4035052
Abstract: A quickly-installed electrical utility box which can be used as an electrical outlet or as a mounting and connection means for a toggle switch. The device includes a wiring box having the usual outlet holes which are internally connected to snap-on cable terminals which make secure electrical connections without requiring screws or the use of tools. The wiring box is slideably received in a mounting bracket which is fastened to the studding of a building, and a locking means on the bracket releasably locks the wiring box against sliding at several different positions, so that after installation of the utility box and the wallboard, the box can be slid in or out to the position in which it is flush with the wallboard.

  • Patent number: 4023697
Abstract: The invention comprises an electrical fixture which may be a light switch, outlet receptacle or the like and includes a stud-mounted bracket which receives in sliding relation a wiring box which is spring loaded to project forwardly against wallboard, there being a pair of spikes connected to the assembly which penetrate through wall board pressed against the forward surface of the assembly so that the location of the apparatus is apparent from the other side of the wallboard, these spikes being removably connected to detents which prevent locking of the wiring box into the bracket until the spikes are removed, so that upon removal of the portion of wallboard located by the penetrating tips of the spikes, the spikes themselves remain embedded in the wallboard thus removing the detents from a locking element which snaps into place after the wiring box has thrust forward to a position flush with the forward surface of the wall to lock the wiring box in this position.

  • Patent number: 3953689
Abstract: The invention comprises a slide-operated switch having a pair of separate movable contacts which are normally biased away from a single stationary contact and are pressed against the stationary contact to energize the switch by a pair of ribs on a sliding toggle plate assembly. The ribs each have a relieved portion which when aligned with the respective movable contact, permits same to move away from the fixed contact and open the circuit. If the ribs are mounted on a single toggle plate, the movable contacts are closed and opened alternately or simultaneously depending on whether the relieved portions are aligned or staggered on the respective ribs. Two separate toggle plates can also be used for the independent operation of both switches, and outlet assemblies may be provided above and below the toggle plates. Wires are joined to the various contacts by means of unique screw-operated clamp terminals.
