  • Patent number: 11741488
Abstract: A system and method directs promotional information, such as coupons of possible interest to a user, when they release their cloud-stored print job from a multifunction peripheral at their selected location. The user is identified, along with their location, and promotional information of possible relevance to the user is displayed on the multifunction peripheral touchscreen. Information selected by the user will be printed out along with their released print job. Businesses register and store their promotional information with the cloud print server, and may be assessed a fee when their literature is printed.

  • Publication number: 20230269244
Abstract: A multifunction peripheral (MFP) includes user selectable functions that call home applications on the device that direct it to work cooperatively with cloud service providers. To avoid requiring users to login to each cloud service each time they use it, they are registered with an authorization server to establish and grant identity and authorization tokens. When a user logs in to an MFP, they are redirected to login to the authorization server which then sends tokens to the MFP identifying the user and their permissions and licenses. Home applications associated by the tokens are displayed for selection. Each time a home application using a cloud service is selected, a background application sends the user's session tokens with a service request to an associated cloud service resource server. The resource servers processes authenticated requests and return the result to the MFP which completes the selected home application function.

  • Publication number: 20220122055
Abstract: A system and method for verifying proximity of a financial card to a smartphone or tablet includes initiating a Bluetooth pairing between the smartphone or tablet to Bluetooth circuitry on the financial card. Once pairing is complete, the pairing is monitored to verify that the pairing remains active. When pairing is lost, a notification is generated on a user interface of the smartphone or tablet. Power is supplied to the financial card via radio frequency energy. A user can notify a financial institution associated with the financial card when pairing is lost when the user believes the card may be compromised. Such notification may be done via the smartphone or tablet responsive to user input.

  • Patent number: 11012581
Abstract: A system and method for automated service call initiation for a multifunction peripheral includes applying optical character recognition to a digital image of an affixed asset tag captured by a smartphone or tablet camera to determine a service agency name and initial contact information. A dealer database is queried with the service agency name and initial contact information, and corresponding information about the service agency, customer or device is received. Information about a current state of the multifunction peripheral is received. A service request or order is selectively sent by a user via the smartphone or tablet to the service agency in accordance with information from the dealer database and the current state of the multifunction peripheral.

  • Publication number: 20210096699
Abstract: A system and method for controlling applications and user interface settings on portable digital devices such as smartphones or tablets monitors a device location and applications or images that are used in such locations. A usage frequency is also monitored and updated as applications are launched by a user. Automated or assisted ordering of application icons is made based on frequency of use. Most frequently used applications have icons displayed on a home screen, in order of use frequency for a given location. Icons or device wallpaper are automatically altered in accordance with popularity of use at a different location when the device is relocated there. Suggestions for applications are made based on use frequency and locations of other users.

  • Publication number: 20200389564
Abstract: A system and method for an augmented reality device maintenance system includes a memory storing user instruction data corresponding to user actions to change a state of a multifunction peripheral. The user instruction data is stored associatively with state data corresponding to a known state of a multifunction peripheral. A processor stores digital image data from a captured image of the multifunction peripheral in the memory. A display generator generates an image corresponding to received image data on an associated display. The system also receives current device state data corresponding to a current operational state of the multifunction peripheral and retrieves, from the memory, user instruction data associated with state data that corresponds to received current device state data. The display generator superimposes instructions corresponding to retrieved user instruction data on the generated image.

  • Publication number: 20190295043
Abstract: A system and method for predictive inventory management includes a processor and memory. A network interface receives device status data from each of a plurality of multifunction peripherals into the memory. The memory stores service history data and service call history data for the multifunction peripherals, in addition to replacement parts data corresponding to replacement parts used in prior device repairs. The processor detects patterns in the service history data, the service call history data and the replacement parts data and generates predictive replacement part data for future replacement parts that will be needed based on the device status data and the detected patterns. • Patent number: 10423865
Abstract: A system and method for paper jam prediction includes a processor, memory and a network interface. Ongoing paper jam data is received from an identified, networked multifunction peripheral. Service call data for the multifunction peripheral indicative of prior service calls is stored in the memory. A sampling window of the paper jam data prior to a service call date is defined and a point in the sampling window when no symptoms of a forthcoming paper jam were present is determined so as to define a prediction window. A relationship between paper jam data in the prediction window of the sampling window and paper jam data outside the prediction window in the sampling window is determined and incoming paper jam data is monitored relative to the relationship data. A paper jam warning is generated when monitored incoming paper jam data indicates a forthcoming paper jam on the multifunction peripheral.
