  • Patent number: 8002000
Abstract: A bag-on-valve aerosol valve system in a container is provided. Propellant is pressure filled around the valve stem, outwardly over the stem gasket and down into the container space outside the bag. Product is filled through the valve stem into the bag. The valve stem has an exterior intermediate frusto-conical annular surface and the valve housing has an interior frusto-conical annular surface, with both surfaces engaging in annular sealing contact to block propellant access to the bag when the valve stem is deeply depressed to a first predetermined position for propellant pressure filling. A stem exterior surface indent interacts with radially-biased spring-loaded slides to lock the stem in a second less depressed predetermined position for product filling through the stem down into the bag.

  • Patent number: 7104427
Abstract: An aerosol valve actuator with a discrete shell-like enclosure and a discrete, bottom mounted, actuating member with finger actuating pad. An opening with a perimeter, in the upper portion of the enclosure, is closed in non-actuated position by the finger pad which has a greater perimeter than the opening perimeter. The finger pad has an upper surface with a portion adjacent its perimeter which underlies and contacts the enclosure upper portion directly adjacent its opening leaving no discernable gap. The finger pad cannot be pushed upwardly through the opening to create a “smiling” effect. The actuating member is connected to the enclosure interior side wall, and has a nozzle outer end snap fit and extending into and filling an enclosure side wall product dispensing opening to prevent spray noise entering the enclosure and being intensified.

  • Patent number: 6619515
Abstract: An aerosol tilt valve has an integrated molded hollow stem shaft and molded conical stem cup. An upper outer circumferential edge of the stem cup normally fully seals, except when the valve is tilted, against a gasket surrounding the stem shaft. The outer lower wall of the stem shaft and the inner wall of the stem cup define an annular space. At least one molded metering orifice below the upper edge of the stem cup extends from the annular space through the stem shaft. The stem shaft is molded with a molded annular recess about the lower shaft end and with the at least one molded metering orifice. The molded stem shaft is inserted in a mold cavity. A lower portion of an annular shield blocks the metering orifice, and together with the mold cavity and lower part of the stem shaft, defines the stem cup shape. The stem cup is molded having an annular projection extending into the annular recess to form a strong and fully integrated stem cup and stem shaft functioning essentially as one piece.

  • Patent number: 6039306
Abstract: The aerosol valve of this invention in its novel aspects comprises a valve stem having an enlarged body portion beneath the valve stem, the body portion having a tubular portion extending from its base and a valve housing having an upstanding tubular portion with a sloped upper portion terminating in a shoulder, which sloped upper portion and sloped shoulder are designed to receive the tubular portion extending from the base of the body portion in a sealed relationship when the valve stem is manually advanced to an open position. Conventional aerosol valve components such as the encircling gasket for sealing the valve stem orifice(s), a spring for returning the valve stem/body to a closed position upon release of manual pressure to the valve stem, a dip tube extending downwardly from a nipple at the base of the housing and a mounting cup for affixing the valve unit to the cup and ultimately to an aerosol container also form parts of the aerosol valve of this invention.

  • Patent number: 5234137
Abstract: A disc for mounting a valve onto a spray can which is capable of engaging a standard-sized protective cap such that the cap fills all the space between the disc and the top of the spray can regardless of variations in the thickness of the disc or the seal. The disc has a central body portion and an annular groove disposed at the periphery of the central body portion. The bead of the spray can sits within the annular groove. A seal is positioned between the annular groove and the bead. A spacer is positioned in the annular groove such that the spacial relationship between the bead and the annular groove is predetermined, i.e., the distance between the annular groove and the top of the can is a predetermined distance. Consequently, a standard-sized protective cap can be used for spray cans in which the seal thickness and disc thickness vary, wherein the cap fits snugly on the disc and fills the entire space between the disc and the top of the can.

  • Patent number: 4723692
Abstract: A spray valve assembly for an aerosol container comprising a valve housing which can be sealingly fixed into the top of the container, the housing defining a main passage for the throughflow of the contents of the container, a valve stem within the housing forming the main valve, an immersion pipe extending from the main passage in the housing, a secondary passage communicating the container and the main passage in the housing for the throughflow of the contents of the container when the container is inverted, an auxiliary valve disposed between the secondary and main passages, which auxiliary valve is disposed eccentrically within the valve housing.
