  • Publication number: 20240115366
Abstract: A whole-mouth dental hygiene apparatus includes first and second channel configured to fit over a user's entire teeth sets of the upper and lower jaw. The channels are aligned along a dividing wall and include rod-like projections extending from their surrounding walls into interiors of each channel, configured for scrubbing enamel and massaging gums through chewing action. The rod-like projections are formed of a molded silicon rubber material together with an entirety of the apparatus. The apparatus includes a handle for manipulating the apparatus attached to its exterior, positioned to protrude from a user's mouth when the apparatus is in use. The apparatus includes openings in the walls of each channel to allow for passage of fluid during use.

  • Publication number: 20080111788
Abstract: A haptic feedback planar touch control used to provide input to a computer. A touch input device includes a planar touch surface that inputs a position signal to a processor of the computer based on a location of user contact on the touch surface. The computer can position a cursor in a displayed graphical environment based at least in part on the position signal, or perform a different function. At least one actuator is also coupled to the touch input device and outputs a force to provide a haptic sensation to the user contacting the touch surface. The touch input device can be a touchpad separate from the computer's display screen, or can be a touch screen. Output haptic sensations on the touch input device can include pulses, vibrations, and spatial textures. The touch input device can include multiple different regions to control different computer functions.

  • Publication number: 20080051997
Abstract: A system is disclosed for creating and providing interactive access to, a street-based photographic image database. A plurality of street-level photographic images are captured are stored for each of a plurality of locations along each of a plurality of streets. The photographs depict a first-person view as would be seen by user if traveling down the associated streets. The photographs are stored in a database, indexed with respect to at least one of, the street of travel, the location upon a street of travel, a direction of vehicle flow upon the street of travel, a seasonal condition, a lighting condition, a weather condition, and a traffic condition. The photographs may be interactively accessed and displayed in response to user input and in accordance with one or more indices. An image collection system and method is also disclosed comprising a processor-controlled digital camera mounted upon a ground vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20080032719
Abstract: A system is provided to track customer patronage within each of a plurality of physical establishments such as restaurants, bars, and retail stores, and enable real-time establishment-specific messages to be sent directly to the portable computing devices of current and prior patrons. A centralized server that is configured to receive electronic attendance messages that indicate when a particular user is in attendance within a particular establishment and maintain an attendance database that includes current and historical patronage data. The server also executes an automated targeted messaging process by which establishment-specific messages are be sent to portable computing devices of users based upon their current and/or historical patronage. The server may also access a personal profile database that stores demographic characteristics of users.

  • Publication number: 20080032723
Abstract: A method and system are provided for enabling users in shared physical places to collaboratively rate the music playing within such places by using portable computing devices on their person. In one embodiment, the portable computing devices are mobile phones and each user may independently rate a currently playing musical piece within the physical place by sending an electronic message from their phone, for example in SMS format. The method and system further enables the receipt of a plurality of such rating messages, the computing of a statistical result, and the providing of the statistical result to each of the plurality of portable computing devices. In this way a group of people may collectively listen to a currently playing musical piece in a physical place, may each provide a subjective rating of the musical piece, and may each receive an indication of the collaborative result of the provided ratings.

  • Publication number: 20070298877
Abstract: A force feedback interface and method including an actuator in a non-primary axis or degree of freedom. The force feedback interface device is connected to a host computer that implements a host application program or graphical environment. The interface device includes a user manipulatable object, a sensor for detecting movement of the user object, and an actuator to apply output forces to the user object. The actuator outputs a force sensation on the user object in non-primary axis or degree of freedom. Force sensations such as a jolt, vibration, a constant force, and a texture force can be output on the user object with the actuator. The force sensations can be output in a direction perpendicular to a planar degree of freedom, radial to spherical degree of freedom, and/or along a lengthwise axis of the user object.
