Publication number: 20240042169Abstract: Medical devices and methods for making and using medical devices are disclosed. An example medical device may include a guide extension catheter. The guide extension catheter may include a proximal member having a proximal end, a distal end, and a proximal diameter. The guide extension catheter may additionally include a collar member attached to an extension portion of the proximal member, where the extension portion may be located at the distal end of the proximal member. The extension portion may allow a delivery device to be inserted through the guide extension catheter to extend along a surface of the extension portion and align with a lumen of a distal sheath of the guide extension catheter.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2023Publication date: February 8, 2024Applicant: BOSTON SCIENTIFIC SCIMED, INC.Inventors: JEFFREY STEVEN FULLER, SOO-YOUNG YOON, LOUIS WARNER STEFANICH, JOHN E. Patent number: 11490895Abstract: Medical devices and methods for making and using medical devices are disclosed. An example medical device may include a guide extension catheter. The guide extension catheter may include a proximal shaft having a first outer diameter. A distal sheath may be attached to the proximal shaft and may have a second outer diameter greater than the first outer diameter. The distal sheath may be designed to extend past a coronary ostium and into a coronary artery so that another medical device can pass therethrough toward the coronary artery. An expandable balloon may be coupled to the distal sheath.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2017Date of Patent: November 8, 2022Assignee: Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey Steven Fuller, Rachel Japuntich, Louis Warner Stefanich, James M. Anderson, Benjamin Philip Gundale

Publication number: 20190358434Abstract: A guide extension catheter may include a proximal shaft and a tubular distal sheath including an exchange channel allowing for access (e.g. side access) into the lumen. Guide extension catheters may be used in conjunction with a guide catheter and a medical device having a distal region disposed within the guide catheter and a proximal region disposed outside of the guide catheter. A portion of the proximal region of the medical device can be passed through the exchange channel and into the lumen, and the guide extension catheter can be advanced into the guide catheter over the medical device without removing the medical device from the guide catheter. The exchange channel can extend in a straight line path along the sheath, or may extend in an indirect path along the sheath.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2019Publication date: November 28, 2019Applicant: BOSTON SCIENTIFIC SCIMED, INC.Inventors: JEFFREY STEVEN FULLER, BRIAN J. HANSON, BETH CAMILLERI, LOUIS WARNER STEFANICH
