  • Patent number: 7412649
Abstract: The semantic hierarchy of a document written in a markup language is represented by a hierarchy of elements, which are viewed and edited using a tree view editor. Each element is represented as a node of a semantic tree, to which may be attached a special purpose editor, capable of editing the semantic properties of that particular element. Such special purpose editors handle the single element to which they are attached and may handle a hierarchy of elements that share common properties in the subtree headed by the single element. They offer a visualization of the elements to which they are attached that is not necessarily hierarchical in form.

  • Patent number: 7409634
Abstract: The system for end-to-end content publishing using XML with an object dependency graph is based on the following two design principles: First, separation of content and style: Information stored in the content management system is independent on how it is going to be presented. The presentation style is encapsulated elsewhere and can be used to customize the look and feel based on the end-user preferences as well as the delivery methods and devices. Second, reusability of information content: By encapsulating common information in fragments and subfragments and making these fragments insertable in other fragments, thereby avoid scattering and duplication of information. This enables a user to restrict the edit operations to a limited number of relevant fragments, to affect global changes. In addition, the present invention provides data consistency and data integrity in the content management.

  • Publication number: 20070157088
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product for graphically presenting compatible workflow steps to a user through a graphical user interface are disclosed. The method includes graphically displaying a plurality of steps in a workflow. A user's selection for at least one step in a plurality of steps to denote at least one selected step and at least one non-selected step is received. The method further includes determining if a set of one or more output parameters of the selected step is acceptable as an input of the non-selected step. An appearance of the non-selected step is graphically changed if the output parameters are acceptable. The method also includes determining if a set of one or more output parameters of the non-selected step is acceptable as an input of the selected step. An appearance of the non-selected step is graphically changed if the output parameters are acceptable.

  • Publication number: 20070106853
Abstract: A computer implemented hierarchical method for paging data, when evicting a page of data from the computer system main storage, evicting the page to a first paging store (preferably NVRAM). When evicting a page of data from the first paging store, evicting the page to a second paging store (such as a disk). When the main store requires a page of data that is not in the main store and when the page of data is available in the first paging store, loading the third page of data into main store from first paging store. When the page of data is not available in the first paging store, loading the third page of data into main store from the second store. Optionally, pages of main store are saved and restored from NVRAM during a power-down, power-up sequence of events.

  • Publication number: 20070101077
Abstract: A computer comprising a processor, a volatile main store, a non-volatile random access memory (NVRAM) mirror store, and optionally a cache for the non-volatile mirror store. While programs of the computer are operational, the contents of the volatile main store are mirrored in the non-volatile mirror store such that when a startup signal is received, the contents of the volatile main store are quickly restored from the contents of the non-volatile mirror store.

  • Publication number: 20070088729
Abstract: A data file or data record is operated on in order to transform the data record by user actions. A history record of actions is accumulated. Various operations are performed on selected actions of the history record to modify the sequence of actions of the history record. Preferably the changed history record actions are applied to the data record to produce desired results.

  • Publication number: 20070050727
Abstract: Contextual desktop folders are provided in addition to a system desktop folder, thereby customized desktop folders (contextual desktop folders) are provided to a user. Thus, applications that have for example editing dialogs presented via a GUI interface, can have the dialogs customized for a computing environment providing dialog functions associated with predetermined applications. Preferably, a user or application selects files of a contextual desktop to present to the user of the application as “default” files, folders, shortcuts or applications.

  • Publication number: 20070050697
Abstract: GUI selected rows of a displayed spreadsheet are collapsed based on column values such that all of the rows having the same value in the selected column are represented by a single collapsed row with an indicator indicating the row is collapsed. All column values of all the rows of the spreadsheet can be collapsed or individual column values can be collapsed. Collapsed rows are expanded for all rows or for a selected row. The expanded rows may be sorted, retain the original sequence but be grouped by column value or may be displayed in the original sequence with rows having different values.

  • Publication number: 20060218491
Abstract: A system, method and program product for providing for the review of documents by a community of interest having a computer accessible database of documents, a computer accessible database of annotations for recording annotations of selected documents in the database of documents, and a publication/subscription (Pub/Sub) infrastructure for publishing selected documents in the database of documents and annotations thereof to subscribers of the selected documents. A registration process registers members of the community of interest who have authority to view selected documents of the database of documents, to view and modify annotations of the documents through the Pub/Sub infrastructure.

  • Publication number: 20060218483
Abstract: An apparatus, method and program product for providing dynamic visual cells in tabular data. A computer has an application for selecting a range of cells in said tabular data. A routine within the application recognizes a request for a graphical plot for data contained within the selected range of cells. The request may be from a user via a popup or a command menu. A routine within the application provides a graphical plot in a summary cell associated with the selected range of cells. The summary cell may be associated with the selected range of cells by being proximate the selected range of cells, or by location, color or a graphic property.

  • Publication number: 20060174189
Abstract: A method, apparatus and program product for focusing the display of tabular data wherein the display has multiple rows and columns of cells. A computer running a tabular data application includes a display for displaying the tabular data. The tabular data application includes a routine for defining a user defined area in the tabular data display in a focused display. The routine places indicators at the top, bottom, right side and left side of the focused display. The indicators may be one of an expand indicator or a collapse indicator. A movable cursor in the tabular data display is used to select at least one of the indicators for focusing the display. The routine in the tabular data application expands or collapses the display of tabular data to give a focused display. The expanding or collapsing of the display is determined by whether the selected indicator is an expand indicator or a collapse indicator.

  • Patent number: 7086002
Abstract: A system and method automatically generate an on-line document from raw text into an engaging, interactive form for a plurality of viewers. Unstructured articles are read from an information feed. A computation process extracts and tags proper names of people, products, organizations, and places and categorizes them. An image database is used to link these proper names with image files. The image database consists of a series of attribute-value pairs for active searching of names. A URL query string is input to the database to extract the location of the image in the database file system. An Extensible Markup Language (XML) file is created from the raw text of the article, the list of proper names in the processed data and the image file references. The XML file is stored in a file system. An Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) file provides templates containing computational relationships between the text and images.
