  • Patent number: 4488383
Abstract: A portable hand tool, such as a drill, having an outer casing and a chuck adapted to receive a sander attachment is supported to facilitate handling of the tool. An apparatus for supporting the tool includes a base member having an opening for receiving the sander attachment, a guide member spanning the base opening also including an opening for receiving the chuck, a clamping member for engaging and supporting the rotary tool on the base member so that the sander attachment is received in the opening in the base member, and springs between the clamping member and the base member. The springs bias the clamping member with respect to the base member so that the sander attachment is forced against a work surface through the opening in the base member.

  • Patent number: 4403457
Abstract: A portable hand tool, such as a drill, having an outer casing and a chuck adapted to receive a tool attachment is supported to facilitate handling of the tool. An apparatus for supporting the tool includes a base having an opening for receiving the tool attachment, a guide member spanning the base opening also including an opening for receiving the chuck, and an adjustable bushing for changing the size of the guide member opening for different size tools. Tracks are provided on the base for guiding movable brackets into engagement with the tool casing to support the tool. The brackets are secured in engagement with the tool casing by adjustable bands, and are secured in positions relative to the tracks by removable handles which are used to hold the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4318317
Abstract: An apparatus for assembling the components of a trophy includes a socket for engaging a nut employed to connect the components, a bidirectional motor coupled to the socket, a clutch mechanism coupling the bidirectional motor to the socket, a spring retained between the motor and the socket to allow axial movement of the socket relative to the motor, and a bracket for adjustably mounting the motor, clutch mechanism, and spring beneath a work surface for supporting the components of the trophy. The socket is biased upward by the spring so that it projects above the working surface. The motor is operable in a first direction to tighten the nut and in a second direction to loosen the nut. The clutch mechanism provides a torque-limited connection between the motor and the socket in the first direction to prevent excessive tightening of the nut and a positive connection in the second direction to loosen the nut.
