  • Publication number: 20240115271
Abstract: Instruments and surgical techniques may be used to correct a bone deformity, such as a bunion in which a metatarsal is misaligned with respect to a medial cuneiform. In some examples, a bone cutting guide is utilized to cut an end of the metatarsal and/or an end of the medial cuneiform to facilitate realignment of the bones. The cutting guide can have a pivotable cut guide surface along which a cutting instrument is translated to provide a precise bone cut. In some applications, after suitably preparing and aligning the bones, the bones are compressed together using a fixation pin. The fixation pin can be driven through one of the bones, into the second bone, and then further driven to compress the bones together.

  • Patent number: 8634586
Abstract: A ceiling-mounted loudspeaker includes a horn-shaped enclosure, an acoustic driver, and a front module. The tubular or horn-shaped enclosure carries a slanted woofer or loudspeaker driver which radiates into an angled or slanted first opening. The tubular enclosure terminates at bottom in a second, circular opening substantially parallel to a second plane, wherein the woofer's slanted plane is inclined with respect to the second plane. The slanted woofer can be oval and radiates sound through the enclosure's interior lumen and outwardly through ports defined in a substantially circular baffle carrying the front module and connected to the second opening. The baffle carries a midrange and tweeter near the ceiling where they can provide enhanced sound dispersion.

  • Patent number: 8437495
Abstract: A compensation assembly for a mounted loudspeaker system includes a mounting frame having a spherical front socket; a retaining ring; a compensating back socket having a spherical back socket; and a woofer frame having a spherical ball structure that fits between the front and back sockets. The compensating back socket has an array of matching slots that align with and partially surround bosses of the mounting frame such that the compensating back socket is free to float in a vertical axis but is restrained from rotating around a central axis. The ball structure is held by a force applied to the compensating back socket by compressing deformable elements around the outer perimeter of the compensating back socket. The deformable elements may be integrally formed as molded-in-place polymer tensioning springs or separately formed as metallic elements.

  • Patent number: 6305967
Abstract: A connector assembly for penetrating the insulation and establishing electrical connection with insulated electrical wires or conductors, thereby eliminating the need to strip the insulation away from the insulated wires, including a pair of mateable housing members, a pair of flexible piercing terminals and a pair of rotatable cams or levers, and which are all enclosed by the pair of mateable housing members to form a main housing. The unstripped insulated wires are respectively inserted into a pair of conductor receiving apertures on the main housing, where the cams are rotated inwardly such that the cams engage and move the piercing terminals to hold and pierce the insulated wires to establish electrical connection thereto.

The unstriped insulated wires are respectively inserted into and positioned within the pair of conductor guides, where the cams are rotated inwardly such that the cams engage and squeeze the conductor guides to retain the insulated wires thereto. While the cams are being rotated, they also engage the piercing terminals such that knife ends pierce the insulated wires or conductors to establish electrical connection thereto.
