  • Patent number: 11635222
Abstract: A damper controller may be configured to send damper control commands to open and close an outdoor air damper to provide free cooling as necessary to satisfy a temperature setpoint inside the building. In some cases, the damper controller may initiate a damper fault test to determine if a damper fault is present. The damper fault test may be based, at least in part, on an outdoor air temperature input, a discharge air temperature input, a commanded damper position, and a damper fault temperature threshold. If a damper fault is determined, the damper controller may send an alert indicative of a detected damper fault. In some cases, the damper fault test results may be weighted to reduce the false positives alerts.

  • Patent number: 11466884
Abstract: An actuator may include a drive motor, an actuatable output, and a sensor for sensing a first sensed parameter in or around the actuator. The first sensed parameter may have a first sensed parameter value that can change with time. The actuator may also include electronics that may identify a first identified value representative of the first sensed parameter value and increment a first counter value when the first identified value falls within a first range of values, and increment a second counter value when the first identified value falls within a second range of values.

  • Patent number: 11224777
Abstract: A fire and smoke actuator includes a temperature sensor for sensing an operating temperature of the fire and smoke actuator, a drive motor, an actuator output for coupling to the damper in order to move the damper between the open position and the closed position and a drivetrain that is operably coupled between the drive motor and the actuator output. The drive motor, when activated, is configured to actuate the actuator output, via the drivetrain, to move the damper between the open position and the closed position. A drive circuit is operably coupled to the drive motor and the temperature sensor and is configured to activate the drive motor to move the damper between the open position and the closed position at a non-zero speed that is based, at least in part, on the operating temperature sensed by the temperature sensor.

  • Patent number: 10935264
Abstract: A system having a mixed air box with inputs of return air from a space or spaces of a building, and of outside air. The mixed air box may have an output of discharge air to the space or spaces of the building. The air from the output may be return air that is conditioned with cooling, heat, or outside air. A damper may be situated at the input of outside air to the mixed air box. A temperature sensor may be positioned at the input for outside air and at the output of discharge air. A cooling mechanism may be at the output of the discharge air. The temperature sensor may be downstream from the cooling mechanism. An economizer may have connections with the damper, the temperature sensor and the cooling mechanism.

  • Patent number: 10680679
Abstract: An external auxiliary switch mechanism having a base device and an expansion module. The base device may incorporate a transceiver and microcontroller connected to the transceiver. The expansion module may incorporate a transceiver and a microcontroller connected to the transceiver. The microcontroller of the expansion module may have a connection to one or more switches and/or a communication module connected to a network. Data may be transferred wirelessly between the transceiver of the base device and the transceiver of the expansion module with, for example, near-field communication techniques. In some versions of the present mechanism, the expansion module may derive power from signals from the basic device.
