  • Patent number: 6433046
Abstract: The present invention provides resin compositions comprising a thermoplastic resin, at least one phosphoramide having a glass transition point of at least about 0° C. preferably of at least about 10° C., and most preferably of at least about 20° C.; and at least one adjunct flame retardant. The present invention also relates to articles made from the resin compositions. The present invention also provides methods to make the resin compositions having improved heat properties over compositions known in the art.

  • Patent number: 6221939
Abstract: The present invention provides resin compositions comprising a thermoplastic resin and at least one phosphoramide having a glass transition point of at least about 0° C., preferably of at least about 10° C., and most preferably of at least about 20° C., of the formula: wherein Q1 is oxygen or sulfur; R1 is an amine residue, and R2 and R3 are each independently an alkyloxy, alkylthio, aryloxy, or arylthio residue, or an aryloxy or arylthio residue containing at least one alkyl substitution; or an amine residue. The present invention also relates to articles made from the resin compositions. The present invention also provides methods to make the resin compositions having improved heat properties over compositions known in the art.

  • Patent number: 6204313
Abstract: Flame retardant blends comprising at least one polyestercarbonate, at least one addition polymer such as a styrene-acrylonitrile or ABS copolymer, and at least one phosphoryl flame retardant have high temperature stability properties superior to those of similar blends containing polycarbonate in place of polyestercarbonate.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 6174942
Abstract: Flame retardant blends comprising a polycarbonate portion containing spirobiindane units, at least one addition polymer such as a styrene-acrylonitrile or ABS copolymer, and at least one phosphoryl flame retardant have high temperature stability properties superior to those of similar blends not containing the spirobiindane units. Blends in which the polycarbonate portion contains such units in amounts up to 5 mole percent also have excellent ductility.

  • Patent number: 6084054
Abstract: A thermoplastic resin composition contains an aromatic carbonate resin, a rubber modified graft copolymer comprising a discontinuous rubber phase dispersed in a continuous rigid thermoplastic phase, wherein at least a portion of the rigid thermoplastic phase is chemically grafted to the rubber phase, wherein the rubber phase of the copolymer is made by an aqueous emulsion polymerization in the presence of a (C.sub.30 -C.sub.108)polyacid surfactant, and a flame retarding amount of an organophosphorus flame retardant.
