  • Patent number: 9232112
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention concern automatic color separation with a white ink for colored and/or transparent substrate, automatic color separation with a silver ink for a natural rendering, automatic color separation with a varnish which has a gloss scale different from that of the printed sample for all shades of gloss that are possible between high glossy to high matte for a false third rendering, automatic color variation with variable thickness under the inks, and variable gamut mapping for a low contrast space.

  • Publication number: 20150356381
Abstract: Color prediction for color printing is performed in response to loading media into a printer and initiation of a calibration sequence, using one or more sensors to measure physical properties of the media. Based at least upon the measured physical properties, an optimal preset is identified in a database and the optimal preset is loaded into the printer as a starting calibration. A difference from values in the optimal preset loaded into the printer and those of the measured physical properties is determined and the printer prints a chart. The sensors measure the chart and the measurements of the chart are used to fine tune the optimal preset. The fine tuned preset is then saved as a new media profile.

  • Patent number: 6538772
Abstract: The invention relates to a conversion method for generating a half-tone image from a digitized image comprising a set of pixels each having a tone value, each pixel of the digitized image being associated with a base cell of the half-tone image, which base cell is subdivided into as many unit zones as there are non-zero tone values. The method comprises steps consisting in analyzing the digitized image in analysis windows and in converting the tone value in compliance with predetermined distribution and filling order of unit zones that takes account of the printing technique used for reproducing the half-tone image on a medium.

  • Patent number: 5806426
Abstract: A method of printing a color image on a medium, the method comprising the following steps:separating the image to be reproduced into a composition of colored unit areas, said unit areas being disposed in a predetermined distribution, the color of each unit area being selected from a predetermined set of base colors and a predetermined set of tones of said base colors, the number of tones for at least one of the base colors being greater than or equal to three, the base color and the tone allocated to each of said unit areas being selected so that said composition of colored unit areas visually reconstitutes the image to be reproduced; andprinting said composition of colored unit areas on said medium by means of inks whose hues are selected, taking into account the color of said support, so as to be capable of reproducing said base colors and the tones thereof during printing, the tone of a base color allocated to a given unit area being obtained during printing by acting on the proportion of each ink within t
