  • Publication number: 20080176990
Abstract: A thermoplastic composition comprises about 10 to about 85 wt. % of a polycarbonate resin; about 1 to about 40 wt. % of an impact modifier composition; and about 1 to about 50 wt. % of an impact-modified alkyl(meth)acrylate polymer; each based on the total combined weight of the thermoplastic composition, exclusive of any filler. The compositions have improved weld line strength, and are useful in the manufacture of molded parts, especially for electronic devices.

  • Patent number: 7365125
Abstract: A thermoplastic composition, comprising: about 10 to about 84 wt. % of a polycarbonate resin; about 0.5 to about 40 wt. % of a polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer; 1 to about 40 wt. % of an impact modifier composition; and about 1 to about 50 wt. % of an alkyl (meth)acrylate polymer; each based on the total combined weight of the thermoplastic composition, exclusive of any filler. In another embodiment, the thermoplastic composition may comprise about 10 to about 85 wt. % of a polycarbonate resin; about 1 to about 40 wt. % of an impact modifier composition; and about 1 to about 50 wt. % of an impact-modified alkyl (meth)acrylate polymer; each based on the total combined weight of the thermoplastic composition, exclusive of any filler. The compositions have improved weld line strength, and are useful in the manufacture of molded parts, especially for electronic devices.

  • Patent number: 7015267
Abstract: A method for increasing the crystallization rate of a polyethylene terepthalate (PET) prepared based on terepthalic acid (TPA) and ethylene glycol monomers, by adding into said TPA-based PET an effective amount of a polyethylene terepthalate prepared based on dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), in an amount sufficient for said thermally formable composition to have an increase in crystallization temperature as required for the final end-use application.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 17, 2002
Date of Patent: March 21, 2006
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Herve Cartier, Franciscus Petrus Maria Mercx, Antonius Adrianus Marinus de Vries, Sanjay Mishra, Luc Govaerts

  • Patent number: 6710108
Abstract: A polyester composition includes a poly(butylene terephthalate), a nitrogen-containing flame retardant, and a phosphorus-containing flame retardant, such that the weight ratio of the total of the nitrogen-containing flame retardant and the phosphorus-containing flame retardant to poly(butylene terephthalate resin) is at least about 0.70, and the weight ratio of the phosphorus-containing flame retardant to the nitrogen-containing flame retardant is at least about 1.0. The compositions have excellent color stability under ultraviolet light aging, good flame retardance, and high impact strength.
