  • Publication number: 20060080452
Abstract: A personal network may be established by interconnecting a plurality of satellites as part of the personal network. Each satellite may configured to communicate with one or more other satellites. On any given one of the plurality of satellites, data indicating a connectivity status for the one or more other satellites is automatically received, and information indicating a capability of the one or more other satellites is automatically received. The given satellite may be configured to enable at least one other corresponding satellite in the plurality of satellites to be made available for use, so that a capability of the at least one other corresponding satellite is made available for the given satellite.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20050131675
Abstract: The invention discloses a system and method for speech-activated navigating or browsing via a speech control interface used in a speech-activated multifunctional communications system. In one embodiment, the invention provides an approach to extend speech-activated navigation by linking an output of an open vocabulary recognizer to an Internet search engine in order that a user may have more options to search information related to his spoken commands. In another embodiment, the invention provides a means to enable the user to orally navigate a database via a speech control interface wherein the selections and associated selection criteria are organized into a hierarchical view menu. In another embodiment, the invention provides an approach with high flexibility and accuracy to recognize the user's command using a new grammar structure and a matching score system.

  • Patent number: 6757718
Abstract: A system, method, and article of manufacture are provided for navigating an electronic data source by means of spoken language where a portion of the data link between a mobile information appliance of the user and the data source utilizes wireless communication. When a spoken input request is received from a user who is using the mobile information appliance, it is interpreted. The resulting interpretation of the request is thereupon used to automatically construct an operational navigation query to retrieve the desired information from one or more electronic network data sources, which is transmitted to the mobile information appliance.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 6742021
Abstract: A system, method, and article of manufacture are provided for navigating an electronic data source by means of spoken language. When a spoken input request is received from a user, it is interpreted. Additional input is solicited from the user in a modality different than the original request and used to refine the navigation query. The resulting interpretation of the request is thereupon used to automatically construct an operational navigation query to retrieve the desired information from one or more electronic network data sources.

When a spoken input request is received from a user, it is interpreted. The resulting interpretation of the request is thereupon used to automatically construct an operational navigation query. The navigation query is routed to one or more agents, which use the navigation query to retrieve the desired information from one or more electronic network data sources.

  • Patent number: 6513063
Abstract: A system, method, and article of manufacture are provided for navigating an electronic data source that has a scripted online interface by means of spoken input. When a spoken request is received from a user, it is interpreted. A navigation query is constructed based on the interpretation of the speech input and a template extracted by scraping an online scripted interface to the data source. The resulting interpretation of the request is thereupon used to automatically construct an operational navigation query to retrieve the desired information from one or more electronic network data sources, which is then transmitted to a client device of the user.
