    Abstract: A plant tray for receiving and retaining one or more plant pots includes a plant-receiving tray for use in a high-throughput plant infiltration process used to produce recombinant proteins. The plant tray described has a base retaining tray with an upper surface defining cavities for receiving the plant pots, and a top plate displaceably mounted on the base retaining tray and having apertures, the apertures defining a channel with the corresponding cavities of the bottom tray when aligned. The top plate is displaceable between a locked operative position wherein the apertures and the corresponding cavities are partially misaligned, thereby locking the plant pots in between the top plate and the base retaining tray.

    Abstract: It is provided a plant infiltration device for infiltrating plants with an inoculum and method of using same, the device comprising a frame having one or more tray racks adapted for receiving at least one tray of plants to be infiltrated; an automated manipulation mechanism mounted to the frame and operable to displace the plant trays within the device; a plurality of inoculum reservoirs mounted to the frame and containing one or more inoculum fluids; an infiltration tank mounted to the frame and within which the plant trays are received when disposed in the infiltration position; and a vacuum generating device in communication with the infiltration tank to apply a negative pressure within the infiltration tank, thereby opening pores of the plant leaves immersed in the inoculum within the infiltration tank and causing the inoculum fluid to infiltrate into the plant leaves.

    Abstract: An adjustable concrete pier includes a concrete block having a central aperture extending from a top surface of the block to a bottom surface of the block. The pier includes a plate disposed at the top end of the concrete block, the plate having a hole aligned with the central aperture. An internal reinforcement framework is affixed to the plate and embedded within the concrete block. The central aperture receives a threaded rod to which is affixed a nut larger than the central aperture. A suitable support member, e.g. flat plate, U-shaped channel, etc., is disposed at the upper end of the rod. The internal reinforcement makes the pier much stronger as the load bears on the plate and internal reinforcement. Because the threaded rod is not embedded within the concrete, it can be replaced. This novel design also permits greater vertical adjustability.

    Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus and method for imaging markings on cartridge cases. It provides for the taking of two images of the cartridge case with light for illumination projected at the cartridge case from two different predetermined angles. In a first version, two different light sources are set at the two different predetermined angles. In a second version, one light source is moved between two different positions to project light at the two different predetermined angles. In a third version, the device holding the cartridge case is rotated between two different positions so light projects at the cartridge case from the two different predetermined angles. In a fourth version, the holding device rotates the cartridge case between two different positions so that light projects at the cartridge case at the two different predetermined angles. In another aspect, the invention provides diffuse light for the taking of the images.
