Publication number: 20220016546Abstract: A method for continuous exchange of material includes countercurrent contacting of a first fluid phase and a second fluid phase that are not completely miscible. The contacting is carried out in a single centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC) apparatus into which only the first and second fluid phases introduced. The apparatus includes a plurality of cells, each with a stationary phase immobilized and a mobile phase passing through the stationary phase. The following steps are carried out successively: a) the mobile phase is formed by the first fluid phase, and the stationary phase immobilized in the cells is formed by the second fluid phase; b) the mobile phase is formed by the second fluid phase, and the stationary phase immobilized in the cells is formed by the first fluid phase; c) repetition of the succession of steps a) and b) each step being carried out immediately after the preceding step.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2019Publication date: January 20, 2022Inventors: Jean-Stéphane CONDORET, Philippe DESTRAC, Christophe GOURDON, Jack LEGRAND, Luc MARCHAL

Publication number: 20130005556Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and a method for placing immiscible fluid phases in contact with each other by means of centrifugal force, in particular in order to extract compounds from one of said phases by another phase. Said device comprises at least one contacting unit (3*) which is capable of being rotated about an axis (X?X) and which includes a plurality of cells (210, A, D) intended to be passed through consecutively by said phases, in a given flow direction, each cell being provided with two inlet/outlet channels (214 and 215) which fluidly connect the cells together in pairs and which lead into each cell, respectively, via two inlet/outlet openings, which are proximal (214a) and distal (215a) relative to the said axis, respectively.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2010Publication date: January 3, 2013Applicants: UNIVERSITE DE NANTES, CENTRE NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUEInventors: Alain Paul Olivier Foucault, Jack Legrand, Luc Marchal, Charles Elie Pierre Agaise

Patent number: 8182690Abstract: The present invention relates to a centrifugal partitioning chromatography device for separating a liquid having at least two phases, and to a centrifugal partitioning chromatography method implemented by this device. A chromatography device according to the invention comprises at least one flat ring (103) which can be rotated about its axis (X?X) of symmetry and comprises a multitude of cells (110) through which the liquid is intended to flow, each cell being provided with two input/output channels (111 and 112) that are intended to make the liquid flow from one cell to another and which open respectively via two inlet/outlet orifices (111a and 112a) of the cell on two radially internal and external sides (113 and 114) of the latter with respect to the axis of rotation.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2008Date of Patent: May 22, 2012Assignee: Centre National de la Recherche ScientifiqueInventors: Alain Paul Olivier Foucault, Jack Legrand, Luc Marchal, Charles Elie Pierre Agaise

Patent number: 7553421Abstract: Method for sizing the cells of a centrifugal liquid-liquid chromatography “column” (CPC column) consisting of stacked discs on which the cells connected in cascade (in series) by small channels are engraved. Rotation of the stack creates a high centrifugal acceleration field which makes it possible to keep a liquid phase referred to as stationary phase motionless, whereas a mobile phase circulates along the CPC column. The cells are three-dimensional, with two dimensions (L, l) of the cells oriented in a plane substantially normal to the axis of rotation (?) of the disc and a third dimension (e) oriented in a direction substantially parallel to the axis of rotation, and selected so as to be at least equal to one of the other two dimensions (L, l), thus providing higher efficiency. When the scale of the devices has to be changed, the size of the cells is modified ensuring that, in any case, this third dimension (e) is favored so as to be as great as possible.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2005Date of Patent: June 30, 2009Assignees: Institut Francais du Petrole, Universite de NantesInventors: Alain Foucault, Jack Legrand, Luc Marchal, Daniel Durand

Rotation of the stack creates a high centrifugal acceleration field which makes it possible to keep a liquid phase referred to as stationary phase motionless, whereas a mobile phase circulates along the CPC column. The cells are three-dimensional, with two dimensions (L, I) of the cells oriented in a plane substantially normal to the axis of rotation (?) of the disc and a third dimension (e) oriented in a direction substantially parallel to the axis of rotation, and selected so as to be at least equal to one of the other two dimensions (L, I), thus providing higher efficiency. Publication number: 20070144934Abstract: A consumable packaging composition is provided for packaging clear-binders, made of one or several packaging materials, alone or in combination, such as plastics, polymers and extenders, and which melting point is adjusted so that the packaging material melts when in contact with the hot aggregates as methods of using them, are also disclosed. Optionally, and prior to packaging, the clear-binder may be mixed together with one or several color pigments used for production of colored mixes depending on the end-user requirements. In a preferred practice, the size of the packaged clear-binder product containers is adjusted such that, after transport and storage, the packaged material together with the packaging material can be directly incorporated along any of the steps of a production process that uses clear-binders. The packaged clear-binder material permits handling and manipulation to be reduced to the minimum necessary, thus avoiding the need for pre-heating and hot-storage of clear-binders.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 30, 2003Publication date: June 28, 2007Applicant: COSMIC ASPHALT TECHNOLOGY PTE.
