  • Patent number: 8020919
Abstract: A door module assembly for a motor vehicle door has a plate-like carrier holding a plurality of door hardware components in a pre-configured orientation, including one or more window regulator rails. The carrier seals the motor vehicle door and includes a flap that provides at least partial access to the window regulator rails. A first trim panel is pre-fixed to the carrier. A second trim panel articulates with respect to the first trim panel between an initial position generally parallel to the first trim panel and an installed position generally in-line with the first trim panel. With the carrier storing substantially all of the hardware required for the door and the trim panels covering substantially the entire surface area of the door, handling and assembly operations are minimized.

  • Patent number: 7425033
Abstract: A sunroof assembly has a frame, including two tracks, that mount to a vehicle roof. An arm is slidably mounted in each track, with each arm including attachment points for mounting a panel or a bracket holding a panel thereto. A trolley is slidably mounted in each track and engages the arm. Each trolley has a threaded bore in meshing engagement with a power screw rotatably mounted in the track. A single motor is coupled via a transmission to two flexible drive cables, each of which is connected to one of the power screws. This basic structure minimizes the component count of the sunroof, and hence its manufacturing costs.

  • Patent number: 6918209
Abstract: A window regulator (10) for operating a window pane of vehicle comprises a base plate (12) having a guide rail (20). A lifter plate (26) is slidably coupled to the guide rail (20) and adapted for supporting the window pane. A motor assembly (32) is secured to the base plate (12) and includes a drive housing and a power motor. A drive shaft, rotatably journaled to the drive housing, has a disc flange supporting a cylindrical shaft and a key shaft spaced from and parallel to the cylindrical shaft. The top and bottom cable drums (34, 36) are supported on the drive shaft, with each of the cable drums including a key slot for aligning with and receiving the key shaft therethrough. The lifter plate is secured to a cable (38) between first and second pulleys (22, 24). At least one compression spring is coupled to one of the cable drums to maintain tension on the cable.

  • Publication number: 20040128917
Abstract: A method for assembling a motor vehicle door includes the steps of affixing a plurality of hardware components to a secondary trim component to form a door module assembly. The door module assembly is attached to the structural door body. A trim panel is secured to the structural door body overlaying the door module assembly. The secondary trim component has a map pocket wall and the trim panel has a map pocket opening. When the trim panel overlays the secondary trim component, the trim panel cooperates with the secondary trim component to define a map pocket.

  • Patent number: 6430873
Abstract: A window regulator system has a first rail and a second rail. The second rail is spaced in a parallel relation with the first rail. A first slider assembly slidably engages the first rail and a second slider assembly slidably engages the second rail. A first cable engages the first slider and has opposite ends thereof wound about a first drum assembly. The first cable is guidedly mounted on the first rail. A second cable engages the second slider and has opposite ends thereof wound about a second drum assembly. The second cable is guidedly mounted on the second rail. A drive system simultaneously rotates the first and second drum assemblies. Rotating the first and second drum assemblies effects parallel movement of the first and second sliders. When a window is mounted on the sliders, the window regulator system effects opening and closing thereof.
