  • Patent number: 6773274
Abstract: A socket for a cathode ray tube (CRT) forms part of a circuit board. The socket is positioned on the side of the circuit board away from the funnel portion of the CRT. The terminals which couple to the electron gun of the CRT are positioned along the side of the neck of the CRT, so that when the socket is engaged with the CRT, there is substantially no portion of the socket board which protrudes beyond the end of the neck portion of the CRT.

Date of Patent: August 10, 2004

  • Patent number: 6297602
Abstract: A circuit for regulating an anode voltage in an information display apparatus. A horizontal deflection circuit has trace and retrace modes of operation. The horizontal deflection circuit further has a fixed retrace capacitance; and a series combination of a switched retrace capacitance and a switch element, which combination is coupled in parallel with the fixed retrace capacitance. The switch element is in a closed position as the horizontal deflection circuit enters the retrace mode of operation. A voltage divider network samples the anode voltage. A control circuit is responsive to the sample voltage for controlling the switch element, such that the control circuit effects regulation of the anode voltage by selecting a time during the retrace period at which to place the switch element in an open position. The control circuit may also provide a raster width compensation voltage for an east-west pincushion correction circuit.

  • Patent number: 5652482
Abstract: A symmetrical square wave, having zero average value, is coupled to the input of a horizontal deflection yoke through an S-shaping capacitance. A negative resistance coupled to the output of the yoke has a negative resistance value which compensates for resistive losses in the yoke. A yoke current generated in the yoke will be a symmetrical triangular waveform. A first control loop adjusts the negative resistance value to assure successive zero value crossings of the yoke current are coincident in time with each center of successive horizontal scan lines. A second control loop adjusts the square wave to assure successive level transitions of the square wave are coincident in time with successive changes of scanning direction.

  • Patent number: 5194784
Abstract: In a deflection apparatus which corrects for inside barrel distortion, a horizontal deflection winding and a retrace capacitance form a retrace resonance circuit during a retrace interval. A trace capacitance forms a trace resonant circuit with the deflection winding during the trace interval. A circuit branch, that includes a second capacitance and an inductance, is coupled to the deflection winding, during the trace interval. The circuit branch forms a second resonant circuit with the trace capacitance having a resonance frequency that is higher than a frequency of a deflection current in the deflection winding. A current in the circuit branch, that is modulated in a vertical rate, modulates the deflection current in a manner to reduce inside barrel distortion.

  • Patent number: 5179320
Abstract: A deflection system comprises a variable gain amplifier for a luminance component of a video signal. A first differentiator differentiates the amplified luminance component. An output amplifier modulates beam scan velocity of an electron beam by energizing an auxiliary horizontal deflection yoke responsive to the differentiated luminance component. A second differentiator differentiates the differentiated luminance component. An integrator integrates the twice differentiated luminance component. The output of the integrator is a gain control signal. The variable gain amplifier has a gain which varies responsive to the gain control signal. The gain varies inversely with the frequency content of the luminance component. The second differentiator and integrator form a feedback loop.
