  • Patent number: 8985167
Abstract: A tire for motorcycles, having a tread band includes a central annular portion, two lateral annular portions and two shoulder annular portions. The axial extension of these portions is not greater than 25%, 35%, and 20% of the axial development of the tread band, respectively. The tread band includes a module repeated along the circumference of the tire in which at least two substantially longitudinal grooves, mainly extending in the lateral annular portions, include, moving axially away from the equatorial plane of the tire, at least three substantially straight and substantially consecutive segments, wherein the first segment forms an angle with respect to the equatorial plane greater than 150°; and the second segment has a length measured along its extension smaller than the length of the first segment.

  • Patent number: 8844589
Abstract: Motorcycle tire suitable for mounting on the rear wheel of a motorcycle, including a tread band having a tread pattern includes a module which is repeated in a direction of circumferential extension of the tire, the module having: at least two substantially longitudinal first grooves which are inclined opposite to each other with respect to the equatorial plane of the tire; and at least two substantially longitudinal second grooves which are inclined opposite to each other with respect to the equatorial plane. Each substantially longitudinal first groove alternates with a second longitudinal groove. The substantially longitudinal first grooves have, in a direction axially away from the equatorial plane of the tire, two substantially consecutive curvilinear sections, the first section of which has a convexity and the second section of which has a concavity directed in the rolling direction of the tire.

  • Publication number: 20100180999
Abstract: A pair of tyres comprising a front tyre and a rear tyre to be mounted on a front wheel and a rear wheel respectively of a two-wheeled vehicle, in which each of the front and rear tyres includes: a carcass structure having at least one carcass ply, the ends of which are in engagement with respective circumferential annular reinforcing structures; a belt structure applied to the carcass structure at a radially external position; a tread band applied at a radially external position to said belt structure; a pair of sidewalls laterally applied onto opposite sides relative to said carcass structure; and a pair of reinforcing side structures laterally applied at the sidewalls. Each reinforcing structure includes a plurality of cords where at each point of a cord, an angle different from zero is identified which is included between the tangent of the cord direction at that point and the tangent to a circumferential direction of the tyre passing through the point.

  • Patent number: 7620474
Abstract: A method of manufacturing tires by disposing an uncured elastomeric material on a substantially rigid toroidal support so as to form a green tire. The green tire and the toroidal support are then disposed within a vulcanization mold in which a molding cavity is defined, so as to mold and cure the green tire. The molding cavity includes at least a portion in which molding and curing are carried out at a constant volume. The disposition of the elastomeric material onto the rigid toroidal support is carried out by controlling the volume distribution of the elastomeric material onto the toroidal support, so as to fit a predetermined curve of excess material volume, i.e., a curve showing a difference between the volume distribution of the material forming the green tire and the available volume in the portion of the molding cavity adapted for molding and curing the green tire at constant volume, versus a predetermined, e.g. radial, direction.
