    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for enabling an anti-replay feature on systems that power down a system-on-a-chip (SoC). The techniques generally include utilizing anti-replay counters (ARCs) to authenticate data stored in a first region of memory by generating tags for segments of the data using a hash algorithm under a first hardware configuration; entering a low power state in which the memory is placed in a self-refresh state; upon exiting the low power state initiating a boot procedure, rebuilding the ARCs and tags by reading data back from and writing data back to the first region of the memory under a second hardware configuration; and proceeding with the boot procedure and restoring the first hardware configuration after the rebuilding if one or more conditions are met.
