    Abstract: A computer system and method where text is recognized from a real world image, and this recognized text is used as input data for a processing program selected by a user. A computer system and method where text is recognized from a real world image, and contextual information is used in conjunction with the text to develop a semantic denotation of the recognized text. The contextual information may include GPS location data. The contextual information may include previous images, captured shortly prior to the image with the recognized text. A computer system and method wherein text is recognized from a real world image, then normalized to be in the plane of the image, then translated and then the translated text is made into an image that is anti-normalized and inserted into the original image (or an image similar to the original image). In this way, the translated text will appear realistically in place of the original untranslated text of the real world image.

    Abstract: An HVAC system includes a grid of intersecting ducts having one or more inlets, outlets, and intersections. Air may be received into the inlets and directed through the outlets into one or more zones of a building. One or more HVAC units may be connected to the inlets and mechanical valves may be located at the intersections to control the air flow through the grid. A control system may be provided to control the temperature of each zone by adjusting the mechanical valves (and/or turning selected HVAC units “on” or “off”). In certain embodiments, the HVAC system includes at least one reading device to read temperature preference information associated with an occupant of a zone. The control system may then align the temperature of the zone with the temperature preference information when the occupant is inside the zone. A corresponding method and apparatus are also disclosed herein.

    Abstract: In an embodiment, a directed graph is created that includes nodes and directed edges that connect the nodes. The nodes represent components and processes, and the directed edges represent a time order of the components and processes in manufacturing processes. Amounts of waste credits for tail nodes in the directed graph are calculated and stored as weights of entering directed edges of the respective tail nodes. The waste credits represent tradable permits for the components and processes to emit waste as part of the manufacturing processes. A shortest path from a begin node to a final node is found, where the shortest path has a lowest sum of its weights, as compared to the sum of the weights for all other paths that exist in the directed graph from the begin node to the final node.
