Abstract: In an embodiment, there is provided a catheter extender-lengthener comprising end connectors and tubing that comprises a polymer and a substance such as an antibiotic that is safe for exposure to bodily fluids. The catheter extender-lengthener is suitable to connect to a catheter extension set. Antibiotic can be eluted to fluid on both sides of a clamp and can diffuse toward the patient's body. Similar tubing can be used in a catheter extension set and optionally in a cap. The catheter extender-lengthener can be added on to existing catheter assemblies. Drugs can be combined at high concentration with polymer, and the device can elute effective amounts of minocycline and rifampin for more than a month. Use of the devices can provide adjustable antibiotic or dose and can be adjusted in response to a patient's condition. This can lessen the possibility of Catheter Related Blood Stream Infection.

Abstract: A drug-releasing polymer composition is disclosed. It may include a major component, which may be ethylene vinyl acetate, and may further include at least one or two release-modifying materials, and may further include at least one or two drugs. The release-modifying materials may be polyethylene glycol and polycaprolactone. The drugs may be minocycline and rifampin. There may be an interaction such that in the presence of two different release-modifying materials, drug release may be greater than with either release-modifying material alone. There may be an interaction such that in the presence of two drugs, drug release may be greater than with either drug alone, and antibacterial performance may be enhanced. Release durations as long as two months are possible. In addition, the composition can be provided on a medical device that is configured for implanting in body tissue for an extended time period.

Abstract: An oral hygiene composition includes a mixture of: (i) a carrier liquid; and (ii) a water-insoluble hydratable polymer fibers forming an entangled three-dimensional network of said water-insoluble hydratable polymer fibers in said carrier; wherein: said carrier liquid comprises one or more humectant in a concentration of total humectant in excess of 5 wt. % based on the weight of the composition; said composition has an elastic modulus G? and a loss modulus G?, and said elastic modulus G? is larger that said loss modulus G?; and said water-insoluble hydratable polymer fibers have a diameter of about 10 to about 20,000 nm and a length of at least 100 nm.
