  • Publication number: 20240290222
Abstract: A method for making a porcine leaf fat membrane may include exposing a porcine leaf fat tissue sample to a detergent solution. The porcine leaf fat tissue sample includes a porcine leaf fat membrane and porcine leaf fat connected thereto. The method includes mechanically stripping the porcine leaf fat from the porcine leaf fat membrane after exposing the porcine leaf fat tissue sample to the detergent solution. The porcine leaf fat membrane may be incorporated within a tissue model for surgical training.

  • Publication number: 20160271385
Abstract: A systems and method for coupling electrical energy to the medical instruments includes a tubular socket having a conductive region and a lumen for receiving a segment of a medical instrument. An energy source is electrically coupled to a conductor in contact with an outer surface of the tubular socket, such that the conductor and the conductive portion of the tubular socket conduct energy to the instrument. The segment of the medical is instrument is rotationally engageable with the tubular socket such that axially rolling of the tubular socket causes axial rolling of a portion of the instrument shaft.

  • Patent number: 9333040
Abstract: A surgical system includes an instrument driver having a distal end positionable in a body cavity and a user input device. The instrument driver and user input device are positioned to removably receive distal and proximal portions, respectively, of a surgical instrument. The user input device is configured to generate movement signals in response to manual manipulation of the proximal portion of the surgical instrument. At least one motor operable to actuate the instrument driver in response to the movement signals and to thereby change position of the distal portion of the surgical instrument within the body cavity.
