  • Patent number: 10456975
Abstract: A method of making a capsule comprising a plurality of compartments, the method comprising: initiating extrusion of a filament solution through a filament extruder; laying the filament solution to form a base of the capsule; forming a first compartment in the plurality of compartments, wherein the forming creates a first barrier wall having a first predetermined release time; forming a second compartment in the plurality of compartments, wherein the forming creates a second barrier wall having a second predetermined release time; filling the first compartment with a first material; filling the second compartment with a second material; and sealing the plurality of compartments thereby forming the capsule with a first sealed compartment and a second sealed compartment.

  • Publication number: 20190016048
Abstract: A dispensing system includes a filament extruder that lays filament solutions. The filament extruder comprises multiple extruder sets. Each extruder set includes a first and a second extruder. Each of the first and the second extruder includes an extruder portion, a hot end portion, and a shroud. The extruder portion includes a first and a second insert that combine to form a channel and a needle tube that receives the filament solution from the channel and lays the filament solution on the target surface.

  • Publication number: 20110250238
Abstract: Said invention refers to a pharmaceutical form for selective colon delivery of drugs or bioactive molecules degraded and/or poorly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The system comprises a core consisting of the active ingredient, and a protease inhibitor layer and/or an absorption enhancer layer, said core being separated from these layers by means of a polymer that swells and/or dissolves and/or is degraded when in contact with the biological fluids present in the gastro-intestinal tract; depending on the thickness of the polymeric layer, the release of the drug can be modulated with respect to the inhibitor and/or promoter.

  • Publication number: 20110229530
Abstract: The present invention refers to an oral dosage form intended for the time-controlled release of drugs comprising a container for one or more active ingredients optionally in admixture with pharmaceutically acceptable excipients, said container consisting of at least two parts or elements that can be joined together so as to seal the contents, at least one of said elements being composed of one or more hydrophilic polymers that undergo a decrease in the glassy-rubbery transition temperature when in contact with aqueous fluids, except for polymers with pH dependent solubility soluble only at pH values above 5, optionally in admixture with pharmaceutically acceptable excipients, the wall of the elements of the container being of such thickness as to delay the release of the contained drug with respect to the time of administration.

  • Publication number: 20100028426
Abstract: A time-specific delayed/pulsatile release dosage form which comprises: a core comprising at least one active principle and at least one disintegrating agent; a sealing layer surrounding the core essentially consisting of one or more water soluble or water insoluble pH independent polymers; an outer coating essentially consisting of one or more hydrophilic pH independent polymers; wherein: the at least one disintegrating agent is present in amounts of 1-20% by weight and the at least one active principle is present in amounts of 1-80% by weight, with respect to the core; the sealing layer accounts for 0.1-10% by weight, with respect to the core; the outer coating accounts for 5-500% by weight, with respect to the core. These coated cores are capable of ensuring the immediate release of the active principle after a pre-defined lag time, independently of physiological pH variations occurring in the gastro-intestinal tract of mammals.
