Abstract: The invention relates to the use of a deodorizer including undecylenic acid or a salt or an alkyl or polyoxyalkylenic ester or undecylenic acid to deodorize papers, cardboards and nonwovens. The invention also relates to papers, cardboards and nonwovens containing the above mentioned deodorizer.

Abstract: Homogeneous and regular paper sheets are shaped, via conventional papermaking technique, from nonpolluting papermaking compositions comprising an aqueous suspension of cellulosic papermaking fibers that also include (a) an inorganic filler material, (b) a papersizing agent and (c) a ternary retention additive which comprises (c)(1) a cationic starch, (c)(2) a polyaluminum chloride and (c)(3) an anionic silica.

Abstract: Deinked paper/wood pulps are improvedly bleached to high levels of whiteness by conjointly treating such pulps with a sulfite bleaching agent, e.g., Na.sub.2 SO.sub.3, NaHSO.sub.3 or mixture thereof, or SO.sub.2 and NaOH, and a reducing agent more electronegative than the sulfite ion, e.g., thiourea dioxide, sodium borohydride or sodium dithionite, in a reaction medium having an initial pH ranging from 6 to 12, advantageously followed by washing sulfite and reducing agent values from the bleached pulp and then treating the washed pulp with hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous alkaline medium.

Abstract: Process for cooking lignocellulosic materials by heating the said materials in a cooking solution containing caustic soda with or without an alkali metal sulphide, in which the solution used contains about 0.01% to 10%, preferably 0.05% to 2%, by weight of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-9,10-anthracenediol based on the weight of the dry lignocellulosic material.
