  • Patent number: 4793063
Abstract: An explosive actuated hand tool for cutting clean holes in sheet material, wherein the explosive force causes a piston to pull a punch toward a die, the material being located between the punch and die. Convenience and safety features include means for arming the firing mechanism by rotation of a locking ring which secures a cartridge in its chamber and means to prevent movement of a firing pin unless a lever has been moved from an OFF position to the ON position.

  • Patent number: 4769909
Abstract: An improved quick clamping device to hold armored cables such as BX cable for cutting. The device includes a handle for receiving the cable which is preferably U-shaped and which defines a cable receiving channel. A clamping handle is hingedly attached to one end of the cable receiving handle. A clamping stud with a two-sided stop adjustable along its length is slidably held between the clamping and receiving handles such that when the handles are compressed the clamping stud projects into the cable receiving channel and clamps the cable. A spring biasing means on one side of the stop serves to hold the handles in the open, unclamped position prior to use. A resilient means such as a bowed spring steel washer is provided on the other side of the stop which compresses as required to prevent excess clamping forces from being generated which might damage the clamp. A saw is preferably mounted on a pivoted saw handle to cut the cable which it is clamped.

  • Patent number: 4674183
Abstract: A hand tool for slitting the sheath on flat, two-conductor, plastic clad cables by means of a pointed knife which projects from a fixed mounting within the tool handle into a chamber bounded, opposite the point of the knife blade, by a sloping wall, one end of which defines an opening only slightly larger than the cross section of the cable to be cut, while the other end of the wall defines one end of an elongated opening within which the cable can be moved to assume a range of angles relative to the knife. The walls of the chamber which lie substantially parallel to the knife blade are so mounted that their spacing from the blade and from each other can be varied with micrometric precision, to ensure the location of the cut at exactly the correct distances from the edges of the flat cable.

  • Patent number: 4359819
Abstract: A hand tool for cutting the armor of armored cable, comprising two elongated handle members hingedly connected, the first member carrying a manually operated circular saw and the second member having a channel in which the cable is clamped during cutting. The improvement including a clamping plunger carried by a third handle member which is hinged to the second member and manually activated to press the plunger firmly and/or resiliently against the cable to hold it firmly against the wall of the channel during the cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 4265016
Abstract: A hand tool for slitting the sheath on flat, two to four conductor, plastic clad cables wherein one or more pointed knives project from the end of a handle into a chamber bounded, opposite the knife blades, by a sloping wall, one end of which defines an opening only slightly larger than the cable to be cut while the other end of the wall defines one end of an elongated opening throughout which the cable can be moved to assume a range of angles relative to the knives. A cable to be cut may be introduced into the chamber at an angle such that its surface does not touch the knives, and the tool can then be moved to an angle such that the knife points are driven into the cable and the sheath is cut, to facilitate separation and stripping of the conductors.
