  • Patent number: 9088144
Abstract: A tool for clamping and cutting an armor of a cable is configured with a housing extending along a longitudinal axis and configured to receive the cable, an elongated lever having a distal end pivotally coupled to a distal end of the housing; an elongated spring having a proximal end, which is riveted to the proximal end of the housing, and a distal end which terminates at a distance from the distal ends, a clamping stud coupled to the distal end of the spring. The elongated spring and the lever are configured to have a controllably slidable contact point therebetween. A torque applied to the lever translates into a spring-bending force applied to the spring and sufficient to bring the stud in contact with the armor with a clamping force depending on the location of the point of contact and smaller than the spring-bending force.

  • Publication number: 20140215830
Abstract: A cable cutting tool for producing slits in medium and large-diameter cable in a safe and efficient manner includes a cable supporting component and a blade supporting component. The supporting components are displaceable relative to one another to provide an opening corresponding to the cable of the desired diameter. The blade supporting component includes a cartridge and two blades mounted to the cartridge. The blades are uniformly configured to provide a two slit cut defining a rectangular strip along the jacket of the cable which can be easily removed from the cable.

  • Publication number: 20120124841
Abstract: A portable tool for cutting an armor of a cable is configured with two clamping units pivotally mounted to one another swing between an open position in which the desired blade penetration depth into the armor is set, and a closed position in which the cable is engaged for producing a cut. One of the clamping units supports a stop unit configured with a screw mounted to the one clamping unit and extending transversely to the rotation axis of the blade. The stop unit further has a bracket traversed by the screw, and a pin traversed by and threaded on the screw and mounted within the bracket. The stop unit further has a stroke-adjusting nut threaded on the screw and operative to actuate relative displacement between the bracket and pin so as to set the desired penetration depth and control the displacement of the blade into the armor at the desired depth.

  • Publication number: 20060021482
Abstract: A tool for cutting an armored casing includes two upper and lower housing members biased away from one another by a resilient element, a handle pivotally coupled to the lower housing member, and an additional resilient element biasing the handle away from the lower and connected to a clamping stud. The additional resilient element is configured to yield to an initial compression force applied to the housing members and handle and sufficient to displace the clamping stud toward and engage the armored casing in a clamping position. By increasing the external force, the housing members move to a cutting position, in which a circular saw is operative to cut the clamped armored casing.

  • Publication number: 20060024142
Abstract: A torque-limiting structure includes a sleeve coupled to a stud so that one of the stud and sleeve has a ramp provided with a spirally raised resilient free end. The free end is configured to rotatably couple the sleeve and shank in response to applying an initial torque and to allow the sleeve to slip relative to the shank in response to applying a limiting torque, which is greater than the initial torque.
