  • Patent number: 8578994
Abstract: A tooling head for construction of a tire cord to an annular surface is provided having a first roller and a second roller for alternative engagement against the annular surface in a forward and a rearward direction, respectively, the first and second rollers having a spaced apart orientation and annular grooves defining a passageway between the rollers. A guide tube extends between the roller annular grooves within the passageway. A cord exiting guide tube end is axially offset to remote extremities of the first and second roller annular grooves and a first and second axially extending slits are formed within the guide tube opposite the roller annular grooves, respectively.

Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
Inventors: Andres Ignacio Delgado, Jean-Claude Lucien Girard
  • Patent number: 7736454
Abstract: Apparatus and a method for pre-cure application of an antenna assembly to a tire comprises the method steps: forming within a rigid core defining an interior surface of the tire a core recess complementarily configured to the antenna assembly; positioning the antenna assembly within the core recess; building an uncured carcass of the tire around the rigid core entrapping the antenna assembly within the core recess; cross-bonding the antenna assembly to the inner surface of the tire during a cure cycle; and removing the cured tire and assembly from the rigid core.

  • Publication number: 20080314216
Abstract: A cord cutting apparatus is provided for remotely cutting a terminal end segment of a tire cord line from a toroidal tire building core surface. The apparatus includes a mechanism for capturing, controlling and aligning the cord line end segment; tensioning the end segment between leading and trailing segment ends; and severing the cord end segment at a point opposite an initiation point on the tire build core. The apparatus moves between an extended position proximate the tire building core and a retracted position that does not obstruct the tire building core during subsequent tire construction.

  • Publication number: 20080314524
Abstract: A method for positioning an end of a cord line at a target location on an annular tire building surface, includes positioning a cord line segment over the target location; tensioning the cord line segment between leading and trailing segment ends; and severing the cord line segment at a point between the leading and trailing segment ends so that the resultant cord line end is at the target location on the tire building surface. Transporting a severed portion of the cord line segment away from the annular tire building surface may be conducted and a tire cord ply may be constructed to extend from the cord line segment about at least a portion of the annular tire building surface prior to severing the cord line segment.

  • Patent number: 7313928
Abstract: An insert for a cooler is sized and shaped for placement on a lower surface of the cooler while supporting foodstuffs placed on insert. Draining apertures on insert allow liquid to drain away from foodstuffs into a space below insert and thereby separates liquid from foodstuffs. Draining apertures are formed from internal walls having curved sections and are sized to facilitate insertion of human fingers therein during cleaning, the curved sections and size of apertures facilitating cleaning. Guide lines marked on insert allow insert to be cut to be adapted in size and shape to lower surface of cooler.
