  • Publication number: 20240166830
Abstract: A hydrophilic porous polymer film is disclosed that is particularly well-suited for use in an electrolysis cell producing hydrogen. The porous polymer film contains one or more high-density polyethylene polymers in combination with one or more hydrophilic additives. The porous film can be formed through a gel extrusion process or through sintering. Extremely thin films can be produced that have desired permeability characteristics, hydrophilicity characteristics, and mechanical characteristics necessary for use in the cell.

  • Publication number: 20150343747
Abstract: Composite members and methods for forming composite members are provided. A composite member includes a base member, the base member formed from a polyethylene. The composite member further includes a tape bonded to the base member. The tape is formed from a fiber reinforced thermoplastic material. The fiber reinforced thermoplastic material includes a plurality of fibers dispersed in a polyethylene resin. A method includes forming a base member from a polyethylene material. The method further includes bonding a tape to the base member. The tape is formed from a fiber reinforced thermoplastic material. The fiber reinforced thermoplastic material includes a plurality of fibers dispersed in a thermoplastic resin.

  • Publication number: 20140054217
Abstract: A process for the aeration of wastewater employs an aerator comprising a porous body having an average pore size from 5 to 250 ?m produced by sintering a composition comprising polyethylene particles having a molecular weight of at least 3×105 g/mol as determined by ASTM-D 4020 and a weight average particle size, D50, from 20 to 650 ?m. The porous aerator is provided in the wastewater and an oxygen-containing gas, such as air, is passed through the porous aerator into the wastewater to assist in purification of the wastewater.

  • Patent number: 5571356
Abstract: A thermoformable, fiber-reinforced composite material contains 5 to 70% by volume of unidirectionally aligned reinforcing fibers having individual filament diameters of 7 to 30 .mu.m, which are bonded by a matrix of a thermoplastic elastomer-modified polypropylene which essentially wets the entire surface of the individual filaments. The elastomer-modified polypropylene preferably consists of a mixture of polypropylene with thermoplastic ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM) and/or ethylenepropylene rubber (EPM). The reinforcing fibers preferably consist of glass.
