  • Publication number: 20030127843
Abstract: The invention relates to a rocker arm mechanism on a clamping device in an adjustable motor vehicle steering column for the detachable fixing of a housing for the steering column to a mounting on the chassis. The housing and mounting may be connected by means of at least one pair of co-operating friction surfaces which may be clamped together by means of the rocker arm mechanism. The rocker arm mechanism thus comprises a centrally arranged stud (3), which is displaceable in the direction of the mid-longitudinal axis (13) thereof and at least one rocker arm (6) arranged with the longitudinal axis (14) thereof roughly parallel to the stud mid-longitudinal axis (13). Said rocker arm (6) is supported either directly or indirectly on a stud head (4) and the other end thereof is located in a recess (10) on the front face of an operating collar (5).

  • Patent number: 5687990
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a clamping device for an adjustable steering column in motor vehicles, in which a tubular housing adjustable in the direction of its longitudinal axis can be clamped between two holders rigidly connected to the vehicle body by a clamping mechanism with a clamping bolt, which passes through the two holders at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the tubular housing and can be actuated by a handle. A locking member is additionally provided, which is supported by an abutment fixed axially at the clamping bolt, on the one hand, and has a sword edge directed obliquely downward toward a component rigidly connected to the tubular housing, forming an angle with the longitudinal axis of the clamping bolt, on the other hand.

  • Patent number: 5481937
Abstract: A telescopic steering column for motor vehicles which contains a guide in the intermediate steering shaft to compensate the nonuniformity of the rotary movement. The guide rotates the two shaft parts of the intermediate steering shaft, which are axially displaceable in one another, so that the fork position of the joints changes with the set position of the steering column.
