  • Publication number: 20100129646
Abstract: A coated object, wherein at least a portion of the surface of the object is an amide containing polymer wherein at least a portion of a surface of the amide containing polymer has a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition exposed coating thereon. A method for making a coated object, wherein at least a portion of the surface of the object comprises an amide containing polymer, by the step of coating at least a portion of a surface of the polymer containing an amide group by a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition coating process to form a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition exposed coating thereon.

  • Patent number: 5250606
Abstract: The present invention pertains to thermoplastic polymer blends which comprise a monovinylidene aromatic copolymer, an acetal polymer and a thermoplastic polycarbonate resin or a polyester resin derived from the reaction of a dicarboxylic acid and a glycol, and which may also optionally contain an elastomeric material such as a thermoplastic polyurethane or an elastomeric copolyester. The resulting polymer blends have good processability and a beneficial combination of physical and chemical properties including thermal/dimensional stability, impact resistance, chemical resistance and environmental stress crack resistance. Said polymer blends are suitable for use in the preparation of a variety of molded utilitarian articles having good appearance and paintability.

  • Patent number: 5240993
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the production of a rubber-reinforced polymer composition having a bimodal particle size distribution using parallel, substantially plug flow reactors to separately polymerize the same or different solutions of a rubber in a monovinylidene aromatic monomer and optionally at least one other monomer. After separate partial polymerizations, first and second prepolymer compositions are produced containing rubber particles having average particle sizes of from 0.05 to 1.5 micrometer and from 0.7 to 10 micrometer, respectively, with the average rubber particle size of the second prepolymer composition being at least 1.3 times the average rubber particle size of the first prepolymer composition.

  • Patent number: 5196461
Abstract: Thermoplastic polymer blends comprising a major proportion by weight of certain monovinylidene aromatic copolymers and a minor proportion by weight of an acetal polymer have good processability and a beneficial combination of physical and chemical properties including thermal/dimensional stability, chemical resistance and creep resistance. Said polymer blends are suitable for use in the preparation of a variety of molded utilitarian articles having good appearance and paintability.
