  • Publication number: 20220184567
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a mixer, an exhaust system and a mixing method. The mixer comprises a shell, defining a first space, wherein the shell has a first opening; a mounting seat, mounted on the first opening, for mounting a doser; a swirling body, located in the first space, wherein the swirling body defines a mixing chamber, and there is a axial gap between one end of the swirling body and the mounting seat, forming a first axial gap area; and the side wall of the swirling body has a plurality of second openings distributed along the circumferential direction, wherein the second opening is mounted with a swirling component; and a rib, wherein the rib encloses the first axial gap area in the circumferential direction.

  • Publication number: 20220065148
Abstract: A mixer comprises an exhaust intake channel (the side wall of which comprises an injection opening, and which provides a first mixing chamber); a flow distributor in the first mixing chamber and comprising a first and second flow path area; a first and second endcaps; and a deflector. The first and second endcaps are oppositely closed to form a second mixing chamber comprising an inlet and outlet portion that are not concentrically arranged. The inlet portion is connected to the first mixing chamber. The deflector is at the second mixing chamber. The first flow path area, the deflector, and the side wall of the outlet portion form a first flow path. The second flow path area and the side wall of the second mixing chamber form a second flow path. The downstream ends of the first and second flow paths merge at the outlet portion of the second mixing chamber.

  • Publication number: 20210404367
Abstract: A vehicle exhaust system includes an upstream exhaust component comprising at least a first catalyst having a first outer dimension, a downstream exhaust component comprising at least a second catalyst having a second outer dimension, and a mixer that connects the upstream and downstream exhaust components. The mixer comprises a first portion associated with an outlet from the first catalyst and a second portion associated with an inlet to the second catalyst. The first portion includes a swirl component having a first length and the second portion includes an additional component having a second length. A connection interface between the first and second portions allows the upstream and downstream exhaust components to be arranged in different positions relative to each other. A combined length of the first and second lengths is adjusted relative to the first and second outer dimensions to achieve a desired position of the upstream and downstream exhaust components relative to each other.

  • Publication number: 20200376450
Abstract: A mixer for mixing a fluid solution, such as a diesel exhaust fluid for selective catalytic reduction, with a gas, such as an exhaust gas, includes a mixing chamber with a general cylinder shape obtained by translation of a polarly period section along a first axis. The fluid solution is sprayed in the mixing chamber by way of a first axial end thereof. The gas enters the mixing chamber through openings formed in a generatrix surface of said mixing chamber, and the mixture exits through a second axial end opposite the first axial end. The polarly period section is shaped in a star, obtained by polarly periodically repeating an elementary profile, comprising an opening defined by a first angle between a first segment passing through the two ends of said opening and a radial line passing through the distal end of said first segment.
