    Abstract: An assembly for modular-type furniture is disclosed, including a vertical support post of rectangular cross-section, a panel and a horizontal structural member. At least one corner of the post has a pair of narrowly spaced-apart vertically extending flanges defining a slot for the end edge of the panel such that the panel and one contiguous surface of the post are in a nearly common plane. The panel is thinner than the width of the post and thinner than the structural member.
