  • Patent number: 11027509
Abstract: Mould for moulding a tread of a tire, this tread having a thickness of material to be worn away and a tread surface intended to come into contact with the road surface when the tire is running, this mould having a moulding surface intended to mould the tread surface of the tread, and having a moulding element formed of a blade and a bar, the blade being attached to the moulding surface to mould a sipe in the tread, the bar, borne by the blade to form an enlarged part of maximum width D, being intended to mould a channel in the tread, this channel itself being intended to form a new groove when the tread becomes part worn. Each blade is delimited by two lateral faces forming between them a mean angle of between 6° degrees and 18°. The blade width decreasing from the mould surface when new, as far as the connection with the bar, the blade width meets the bar being at least equal to between 0.2 and 0.4 times the maximum width D.

  • Publication number: 20200262243
Abstract: Tire (1) for an off-road vehicle, comprising a crown and a tread (22) having a width W and a thickness E of wearable material, this tread (22) having a superposition of at least two layers of materials, a first layer (221) radially on the inside and a second layer (222) radially on the outside of the first layer (221) to contact the ground when the tire is new, this second layer (222) having a thickness E2 relative to the thickness E of wearable material, the tread (22) being provided with at least two narrow grooves (4, 5) running all around the tire which have a zigzagging shape of wavelength L and amplitude A, the wavelength L being between 10% and 120% of the axial width W of the tread (22), and the amplitude A being between 10% and 75% of axial width W. The material of the first layer (221) is chosen with low hysteresis; with a measured tan(?) value at most equal to 0.30.

  • Patent number: 6286578
Abstract: A process and device for inflating a tire by forming, within an enclosure in which there are enclosed the rim and the beads of the tire, an inflation orifice between a first seat of the rim and a first bead, then introducing compressed air into said orifice and closing it such that the tire is inflated and mounted hermetically on the rim. Before forming this orifice, the first bead of the tire is located axially to the outside of the first seat and the second bead is mounted hermetically on the second seat, then, to form the orifice, points on the first bead are pressed. The device for implementing the process includes a bell formed of a fixed part and a mobile part intended to slide relative thereto to tightly surround the tire on the rim for its inflation, and including, within the bell, a finger for pressing at points on said bead.

  • Patent number: 6240994
Abstract: A method of mounting a tire on a rim and a device for use in the method. The method includes extracting a bead from a mounting groove of the rim, so as to bring it axially outside a seat of said rim, with a view to subsequently mounting that bead on the seat, the other bead having been mounted on another seat. The method further includes bringing the bead into a local extraction position, radially and axially outside the seat, and of extracting the bead on the whole circumference of the tire, by pivoting a bead gripper on two pins provided radially on both sides of the mounting groove of the rim. The device includes a bead gripper pivotally mounted on one of the pins which is mobile and coupled to a control through a rod which is pivoted on the other pin.
