  • Patent number: 6902149
Abstract: A defense barrier for protecting a target from critical damage from the impact of a predetermined group of aircraft comprises: a plurality of towers spaced from the target, each tower being spaced from a neighboring tower by a distance less than the wingspan of an aircraft in the predetermined group of aircraft having the smallest wingspan in the group; each tower being spaced from the target at least a distance d given by the formula: d=h/tan(theta) where h is the height of the tower and theta is the smallest vertical approach angle of any aircraft from the predetermined group of aircraft sufficient to inflict critical damage to the target.

  • Patent number: 5600977
Abstract: A locking device has a non-magnetic pin and a button, the non-magnetic pin having a base and a post projecting perpendicularly therefrom, extending to a free end, with an indented portion close to the free end. The button is an enclosed non-magnetic unit, having a hole at the lower surface adapted to receive the free end of the post, and also enclosing a plurality of locking plates each supported at an outer portion by a compressible support material, and adapted to retain the pin at the indented portion in a locked position within the button, but to rotate upwards and release the pin in response to a magnetic force directed at the upper surface of the button. The magnetic force can be applied by a magnet mounted within a protective shield adapted to fit over the button.

  • Patent number: 5431293
Abstract: A container closure and locking system, allowing authorized access to the container when indicia on the locking system is correctly aligned. The container closure and locking system, for selectively allowing access to a container having a lip, comprising a container cap having an upper cap and lower cap. The lower cap comprises a main body having a main body bore. Latches mounted within the main body have a tail end, a hook that grips the lip, and a fulcrum between the tail end and hook. The tail end of each latch extends directly below the main body bore. The upper cap is rotatable to an unlocked position. The upper cap has a rotatable disk, having a plunger that can extend downward through the main body bore when the upper cap is in the operable position, to pivot each latch about its fulcrum, freeing its hook from the lip.

  • Patent number: 5405037
Abstract: A container closure and locking system, for selectively allowing access to a container having a lip, comprising a container cap, and a key. The key further comprises a magnet. The container cap further comprises an upper cap, a lower cap, a latch mounted between the upper cap and lower cap, and a center spring. The upper cap and lower cap are rigidly attached to one another. The latch has a lower latch, which grasps the lower cap and the lip. The latch has an upper latch and a fulcrum. The fulcrum attaches to a pivot point on the upper cap. The center spring is mounted between the upper cap and lower cap. The center spring presses against the upper latch, to bias the fulcrum against the pivot point, to maintain the lower latch in position grasping the lip. The magnet acts upon the latch, pulling the lower latch away from the lip to release the container cap from the container.
