  • Patent number: 5318000
Abstract: A throttle valve of an internal combustion engine can be adjusted by an electrical system. A device and a method for adjusting the throttle valve include a set value signal generator which has a no-load switch and a full-load switch. By evaluating the position of these two switches, the desire of the driver to set full-load or no-load can be reliably detected and accordingly taken into account even when the set value signal generator is blocked.

  • Patent number: 5247217
Abstract: In a safety system for a stepper-motor drive, a stepper motor for operating a throttle valve has poles with windings. Each pole winding is divided into part-windings, each of which is driven by a dedicated output stage. As a result, in the event of a failure of a part-winding or an output stage, it remains possible to control the stepper motor.

  • Patent number: 5134978
Abstract: A vehicle has an internal combustion engine, and a throttle flap and an idling fill level regulator communicating with the internal combustion engine. An apparatus for controlling an opening degree of the idling fill level regulator includes a regulating apparatus for regulating the opening degree of the idling fill level regulator under certain operating conditions, and a control apparatus for controlling the opening degree of the idling fill level regulator over an entire operating range in accordance with memorized control values as a function an opening degree of the throttle flap and a motor speed. The regulating apparatus supplies control signals in an idling motor speed governing range, being superimposed on control values of the control apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5060160
Abstract: In a method for calculating the quantity of fuel to be supplied to an internal combustion engine during a dynamic transitional mode, the quantity of fuel is calculated from a corrected intake pressure value pkorr and from the speed n. The corrected intake pressure values pkorr derive from a measured intake pressure value pm taking into consideration the ambient pressure, the ambient temperature, and the time delays between the measured intake pressure pm and the intake pressure actually present in the intake pipe during the dynamic transitional mode. The method guarantees an extremely exact metering of the fuel quantity during the dynamic transitional mode.

  • Patent number: 4846132
Abstract: An arrangement for the identification of the mass air stream supplied to the cylinders of an internal combustion engine. A controlled unit serves the purpose of controlling a prescribed relationship between mass air stream and fuel quantity, whereby a correction quantity (.tau.) from a performance characteristics memory is deposited dependent on at least one operating parameter. In accordance with the invention, this thereby involves a correction quantity which takes the dynamic behavior of the intake system, particularly its storage capacity, into consideration. Accordingly, the control unit identifies a corrected mass air stream which is smaller or, respectively, greater than the measured mass air stream by the sub-stream filling the storage or, respectively, flowing off from the storage.
