  • Patent number: 6941989
Abstract: A tire pressure control arrangement for a motor vehicle monitors the air pressure of at least one pneumatic tire and a signal is outputted from the arrangement when, in at least one tire of the motor vehicle, the air pressure drops below a lower threshold value or exceeds an upper threshold value. The lower and/or upper threshold value(s) are set in dependence upon the laden state of the motor vehicle. The laden state is determined with the aid of an air suspension system and the setting takes place automatically with the aid of the determined laden state.

  • Patent number: 5853229
Abstract: In a first region of the driver's braking command, regenerative braking produces almost all of the braking torque, whereas the friction brake produces essentially no braking torque. In this region of the braking command, the pressure medium flowing into the wheel brake cylinder as a result of the driver's actuation of the brake pedal, is conducted by appropriate control back to a storage chamber. The first region is limited by a threshold brake pedal travel which corresponds to the maximum braking torque available from the motor. When pedal travel exceeds this threshold, the friction brake and the motor both effect braking.

  • Patent number: 5443133
Abstract: The invention is related to a brake shoe with a chamfered edge lining, the chamfered edge achieving desired surface configuration of the lining after only a few braking actions while increasing the service life of the lining. The chamfer has a profile shape which features a hyperbolic contour, steeply angled at the top adjacent the outer face and very shallowly angled at the bottom adjacent the backing plate so that the increment of wear of each braking operation decreases in a strongly degressive way.

  • Patent number: 5427213
Abstract: A brake pad for disc brakes is provided in which the brake pad comprises a damping plate attached to the reverse face of a lining carrier plate. The damping plate is attached to the lining carrier plate by way of projections which are molded on the lining carrier plate and extend into corresponding apertures of the damping plate. The external ends of the projections are widened so that the damping plate is pressed against the reverse face of the lining carrier plate.

  • Patent number: 5315860
Abstract: A simple-design device for the measurement of coefficients of friction depending on the relative speed between a sample (8) and a brake disc (13) features a simple-design set-up and is well suited for the measurement of the changes of the coefficient of friction in the starting and in the stopping phases of the friction surface (13). The device operates by pressing the sample (8) with a defined pressing force (K1, K2) onto the friction surface (13) and simultaneously measures that force (K3) with which the samples (8) are dragged by the friction surface (13) transversely to the pressing force (K1, K2) as a function of time and speed. A brake disc can be provided as a friction surface (13). A single source of forces (K1, K2) for the pressing force can also be provided, resulting in a simple-design and sturdy structure for the device.

  • Patent number: 5193652
Abstract: A disc brake for automotive vehicles in which the brake disc is straddled radially from the inside by a fist-shaped brake housing. The supporting and guide elements of the housing consist of a supporting bearing (34) and a movable bearing (7). The supporting bearing (34) connects the housing (8) with the holder (6). The housing 8 is swivelable about the supporting bearing (34). The housing (8) takes support on the movable bearing (7) which comprises a pin (3) rigidly coupled directly to the wheel suspension (38). By coupling the movable bearing (7) directly to the wheel suspension and supporting the lining in a tangential direction directly on the entering side, maximum utilization of the radial space, an increase of the effective radius, and a reduction of the thermal load of the brake are achieved.

  • Patent number: 5099961
Abstract: An improved disc brake which avoids brake noises. Mass is added to one or both of the brake housing and the brake carrier to preclude the natural frequencies of several components from coinciding, thereby preventing noise in that resonant frequency.

  • Patent number: 5002160
Abstract: A spot-type disc brake, in particular for motor vehicles, comprises a brake housing enclosing the rim of a brake disc and further comprising brake pads arranged on both sides of the brake disc and still further comprising at least one piston-cylinder-type actuating device. In order to reduce the influence of the heat generated during braking, the brake housing is formed with at least one ventilation channel arranged close to the brake disc beside a brake pad shaft which accommodates the brake pads.
