    Abstract: A dryer section of a machine for manufacturing fiber webs, which includes a plurality of heatable drying cylinders arranged to form at least a first dryer group and a second dryer group, and arranged in horizontal cylinder rows, and including a plurality of suction rolls each being disposed between two adjacent cylinders. The cylinders of the first group have axes disposed in a first plane I, the suction rolls of the first group have axes disposed in a second plane II, the cylinders of the second group have axes disposed in a third plane III, and the suction rolls of the second group have axes disposed in a fourth plane IV. In accordance with different embodiments planes I and II may be coplanar, planes II and III may be coplanar; planes I and III may be disposed between planes II and IV; and the axes of the first drying cylinders and its associated suction roll of the second group may be disposed below the axes of the other drying cylinders and suction rolls of the second group.

    Abstract: A dryer section for a machine for drying a fibrous web and particularly a paper web. The dryer section comprises a row of dryer cylinders which alternate with reversal suction rolls along the path of the web. The dryer cylinders are separated into at least an upstream first dryer part and a downstream second dryer part in the path of the web through the dryer section. A continuous supporting belt travels along with the web alternately over each dryer cylinder and its associated suction roll in respective dryer groups in each of the upstream and downstream dryer parts. Every suction roll in the upstream first part has a stationary suction box in it. Every suction roll in the downstream second part does not have a suction box. All of the suction rolls have a perforated roll shell. The density of the perforations in the roll shell of the suction rolls in the first upstream part is at least twice as great as the density of the perforations in the roll shell of the suction rolls in the second downstream part.

    Abstract: A dryer section in which a paper web to be dried meanders successively over several drying cylinders, which are arranged in two rows one above the other. To the top row of cylinders is allotted a top supporting belt and to the bottom row of cylinders a bottom supporting belt. Between each two drying cylinders each of the supporting belts runs over a carrier roll. At the open paper draws are provided web stabilizers of which each exhibits several nozzle elements with one air blow slot each and a web-guiding surface interacting with it. The direction of flow of the blow air is at all nozzle elements the same as the direction of travel of the paper web. Each web stabilizer is designed as an exhaust-air box surrounding the nozzle elements, to which an exhaust-air pipe is connected.

    Abstract: A paper machine where the press section features exclusively double felt roll presses (13-16; 23-26) through which proceeds the paper web (10) to be dehydrated between two felt belts (15,16; 25, 26). The paper web (10) is constantly supported by a backing belt (34) at least in the first drying group of the drying section. The transition of the paper web (10) from one roll press to the next and from the press section to the drying occurs without an open draw. The first drying cylinder (31) is located outside the backing belt loop (34), with the paper web (10) proceeding across the upper cyliner area of this drying cylinder (31). The entrance point of a rope carrier (45,46) (serving to thread the paper web into the drying section) is located behind the leaving point of the paper web (10) from the first drying cylinder (31).

    Abstract: The disclosure concerns a press device for a paper making machine, and particularly concerns an extended nip press. A hollow tubular, stationary support body extends around a supporting beam, which is a flexing beam. Hydraulic piston-cylinder combinations extend between the beam and the supporting body in a press plane. A radially non-displaceable press shoe is supported on the support body and faces toward a counter-roll to define a press nip between them. The outwardly facing surface of the press shoe is concave in the circumferential direction of the support body. The amount of pressure in the hydraulic supporting means determines the press force which prevails in the press zone.

    Abstract: The disclosure concerns a press roll for pressing a web passing through a nip between the press roll and an 2 associated roll, particularly in a paper making machine. The press roll includes a rigid inner shell and flexible, elastic outer shell which rotates around the inner shell. An outwardly pressurized elongate pressure ledge is placed in the inner shell at the nip to produce an elongated nip and to be pressurized in opposition to the associated roll at the nip. In an alternate embodiment, the pressure ledge has a pressurized, outwardly facing recess facing the outer shell. A drive roll drives the outer shell to rotate around the inner shell. Recesses in the inner shell carry lubricant for lubricating the rotation thereof.
