    Abstract: A bale opener has a horizontally back-and-forth travelling assembly, including an opening device for progressively removing fiber material from a top surface of the bale during a working pass. The bale opener is combined with a spraying arrangement including a spraying nozzle mounted on the assembly for travel therewith as a unit. The spraying nozzle is oriented downwardly for discharging a downwardly directed fluid on the top surface of the bale during travel of the assembly.
