  • Patent number: 5148732
Abstract: A pivotable support (11) is mounted on the drive shaft of a main sawblade (2). Located at the bottom end of the support (11) is a preslitting sawblade (22) whose drive pinion (14) can be driven via a toothed belt (18) by a drive pinion (9) sitting on the drive shaft of the main sawblade. The support (11) is held by a tension spring (19) against an adjustable stop (21) provided on the housing (1). The device can also be attached subsequently to existing vertical board saws and ensures an absolutely clean cut even on plastic-coated chipboards and when using sawblades of inferior quality.

  • Patent number: 4802392
Abstract: The panel saw has an upright supporting grid (2) with vertical and horizontal supporting bars (2a and 2b resp.). The pivotable saw unit (6) is attached to a displaceable beam (5).In order to reliably pick up the wood dust which collects behind the panel (P) to be sawed and which according to the invention amounts to 3 to 5% of the total wood dust quantity, a continuous cover element (7) is fixed to the rear side of the supporting grid (2). Moreover, a rotatably mounted spindle (A) with a sealing foil (10) which can be rolled up is arranged in the marginal area of the supporting grid (2). The sealing foil (10) is brought to bear against the panel edge adjacent to it by a counterweight arrangement (G) having tension cables (12, 18).Flow channels (K) are thereby formed between the horizontal supporting bars (2b), which flow channels (K) are defined on the rear side by the cover element (7) and on the front side by the panel (P) and the sealing foil (10).

  • Patent number: 4638695
Abstract: An exhaust duct is arranged vertically slidably on a vertical board saw so that it always follows the vertical movement of the sawing unit during horizontal cutting. The exhaust duct is formed by a U-shaped profile, in which an endless driven band is guided. A slot provided in the band is located in front of the saw blade (S) in every position of the sawing unit; the sawdust thrown off by the saw blade thus passes through the slot into the space enclosed by the band and is exhausted. A sealing element is fitted on the front band side just in front of the slot. The apparatus ensures a virtually 100% discharge of the chips and sawdust in the case of horizontal cutting, which is of great significance particularly in sale rooms and exhibition rooms, and contributes to humane conditions in the workshop.

  • Patent number: 4631999
Abstract: A board saw exhibits a frame on which a guide beam is horizontally slidable. A sawing unit is mounted with vertical mobility on the guide beam and is connected by a cable to a compensating weight. In order to absorb the reaction forces generated by the saw reliably in the immediate sawing region, a horizontal support beam is mounted for vertical displacement and likewise connected by a cable to a compensating weight. The installation is preferably wired so that the support beam follows automatically to the level of the saw blade when the sawing unit is pivoted into the horizontal cutting position. For an accident-proof support of the board (P), a row of support arms is provided on the upper girder of the frame and also on the movable support beam, and these support arms are arranged staggered so that when the support beam is raised they interlace comb fashion and ensure a correct accident-proof support of the board.

  • Patent number: 4202231
Abstract: Apparatus for cutting a panel backed by an upright grid and supported edgewise by a horizontal row of rollers, the grid and rollers defining a working surface, includes a power saw that may be moved in the working surface, an abutment which may abuttingly engage a vertically extending edge portion of the panel and thereby bound the working surface in one horizontal direction, and a clamping mechanism vertically movable on a guide column for clamping the edge portion to the column. Unless located so as not to interfere with the start of a horizontal cut, the column and abutment may be moved away from the working surface temporarily.

  • Patent number: 4183272
Abstract: In a mechanism for cutting panels, including an approximately vertically standing backing structure for the panels to be cut and a lower panel edge support to define a work area through which a saw mounted on a carrier may be moved, the panels may be secured in their working position and moved into and out of the work area by means of a cantilever arm mounted on the backing structure outside the work area for pivotal movement, whereby a gripping device on the free end of the arm is moved into and out of the work area.

  • Patent number: 4181054
Abstract: Panel cutting apparatus in which a supporting structure defines a vertically extending surface of engagement with a panel to be cut, a panel edge rest downwardly bounds the surface, a saw carrier is guided on the structure for horizontal movement along the surface, a saw unit may be moved vertically on the carrier in sawing engagement with a panel in the surface of engagement, and an improved gripping arrangement for gripping a vertically extending side edge portion of the panel includes a slide guided on the supporting structure in a vertically extending path, a pair of clamping jaws on the slide, and a moving device for moving respective clamping faces of the jaws toward and away from each other into and out of clamping engagement with the side edge portion of the panel.

  • Patent number: 4150597
Abstract: A saw arrangement in which a panel to be cut is backed in an upright position by a frame and is supported by a lower edge rest includes a vertically extending carrier bar horizontally sweeping the working area defined by the backing frame and the edge rest, a carriage vertically movable on the carrier bar, and a sawing device movable on the carriage transversely to the working plane. Operating elements for so moving the carrier bar, the carriage, and the sawing device may be connected individually to a central drive unit by means of a single motion transmitting element and individual controls for drivingly connecting the motion transmitting element to the carrier, the carriage, and the sawing device.
