Patent number: 5615905Abstract: A system for the modification of the vibrational properties of a ski comprised of a support member having a fixed end attached to the ski, and a free end that is movable longitudinally in a holder attached to the ski and is connected by means of a piston with a hydraulic cylinder that is attached to the ski. The free end has an elongated recess in which the hydraulic cylinder is fixed to the ski and is pivotally connected to the piston. This allows the system to be used under tough conditions, protects the hydraulic cylinder from damage, and allows the hydraulic cylinder to be readily replaced.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1994Date of Patent: April 1, 1997Assignee: Marker Deutschland GmbHInventors: Premek Stepanek, Ludwig Wagner

Patent number: 5219137Abstract: A display device for a ski binding comprises two components detachably connected to each other. One end of a first component is angled upwardly from its other, lower end, while the second component comprises a structure with ski binding mounting blocks located at either end thereof, connected by two, parallel rods. One of the mounting blocks is comprised of two, stepped portions with a slot located therebetween adapted to temporarily receive a ski therethrough, permitting a purchaser to superimpose the component over a ski to determine the esthetic compatibility of the ski with a binding mounted on the component. The components can be connected to each other by positioning the lower end of the first component in the slot of the second component, the two components being held together by a detent on one of the stepped portions which extends into a recess located in the lower end of the first component.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1991Date of Patent: June 15, 1993Assignee: Marker Deutschland GmbHInventors: Premek Stepanek, Ludwig Wagner

Patent number: 5143397Abstract: A part for a ski binding comprising a carriage slidably attached to a base plate. One end of the base plate is fastened to the ski with fasteners, while its other end rests freely on the bottom of a U-shaped clamp, also fastened to the ski with fasteners. Attachment of the carriage to the base plate is accomplished by carriage structural features that retain the carriage in the clamp, and further carriage structural features that prevent the carriage from being vertically disengaged from the part of the base plate adjacent to the base plate's fastened end. However, such features allow the carriage to be moved horizontally back and forth relative to the base plate along the longitudinal axis of the ski. The ski binding part disclosed prevents a substantial amount of the vertical forces ordinarily experienced during skiing from being transmitted to the ski through the base plate, allowing the base plate to be made of lightweight construction.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1990Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Assignee: Marker InternationalInventors: Fremek Stepanek, Ludwig Wagner

Patent number: 4693489Abstract: A heel piece for a safety ski binding is provided comprising a support member in the form of a slide member on which is pivotally mounted a sole holder having a pedal, a sole engaging portion and an interior cam surface configured to cooperate with a bearing member or cam follower which engages the cam surface. The cam follower is supported by a bearing lever having an axis of rotation near the upper surface of the ski, and a connecting member. The cam surface has an upper portion, a lower portion and an intermediate critical portion, and the binding opens when the soleholder is driven upwardly so that the critical portion passes the cam follower. An opening lever for manually opening the binding is rotatably attached to the connecting member, and is pivotally mounted on the soleholder.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1985Date of Patent: September 15, 1987Assignee: Marker International CompanyInventors: Premek Stepanek, Ludwig Wagner, Walter Knabel
