  • Patent number: 4911185
Abstract: A method and system for the application of hair treatment solution, such as permanent solutions, to the hair is disclosed according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention. Specifically, the present invention includes hair curlers having cylindrically shaped outside surfaces and hollow interiors. After the curler is rolled in the hair, vapor retainers may be placed around the hair rolled on the hair curler. The vapor retainer includes in its most preferred form, first and second semicircular members hinged together for defining a hair treatment solution receiving volume. Vaporized hair treatment solution may be injected into the interior of the hair curler for communication with the hair located within the vapor retainer. In its most preferred form, the curler includes a frustro-conical portion extending into the interior of the curler and having a closure formed from wedge-shaped flaps.

  • Patent number: 4616666
Abstract: A preferred embodiment of a hair treatment solution collector is shown and described according to the teachings of the present invention as including a treatment receiving volume defined by a solution catching area and first and second side walls. The collector further includes a solution introduction ramp connected to the solution catching area and having a free edge. In its most preferred form, the free edge of the solution introduction ramp includes a taper for reducing the thickness of the ramp at the free edge for allowing ease of insertion of the ramp beneath hair curlers, perm rods, and the like. In the preferred embodiment, the collector further includes a handle attached to the back edge of the hair catching area including a generally horizontal portion and a second portion attached thereto at a slight downward angle. Therefore, a finger of the operator can be located under the along the handle with the thumb of the operator being pressed against the top surface of the handle.

  • Patent number: 4205692
Abstract: Vapor hood for covering the head of the user for enabling water vapor to surround the user's head freely and penetrate the user's hair equally during hair treatment is disclosed for use with a sink including a hot water faucet. The vapor hood is formed from a self-supporting, vapor impervious, non-flexible, dome shaped member including a head opening allowing placement of the head of the user within the interior of the dome shaped member. The dome shaped member has dimensions such that the water vapor can freely surround the head of the user located within the interior of the dome shaped member. The vapor hood can further include a flexible, impervious member removably attached to and around the base of the dome shaped member for vaporously sealing the base of the dome shaped member with the sink.

  • Patent number: 4159773
Abstract: A beautician's tool hanger is disclosed, in the preferred form, as including a main frame arranged for supporting curling irons, a member for thermally insulating the main frame from a wall by spacing the main frame therefrom to thereby provide an air insulation barrier between a beautician's tool, for example a curling iron, and the wall, a tongue for insertion into a wall attachment member, and a hook used in attaching a further beautician's tool, for example, a hot comb, thereto all formed by a unitary, elongated, member being generally C-shaped. The main frame, in the preferred embodiment, includes an elongated arm member attached at approximately its midpoint, to the main frame, and pressure clip members, located at the outer ends of the arm member, for receiving the heated portion of the curling irons.

  • Patent number: 3966245
Abstract: A multioperational latch is disclosed, in the preferred form, as including a member pivotally mounting a latch member to the inside surface of a door and a member mounted in a stationary position with respect to the door frame which receives and removably captures an enlarged end of the latch member. Therefore, the latch can be placed in a first, privacy position to prevent the door from being moved from its closed position, in a second, latch position where the enlarged end of the latch member is captured within the receiving member to hold the door in its open position, and in a third, inoperative position allowing the door to be freely moved either to or from its open or closed position.
